We just finished 7 school shows at East Chicago Central. Scheduling was a bit hairy and had to be changed to accomodate EC students getting to and from performances. My granddaughter has been with IYB for the past 8 months. I enrolled her after our experience with 2008 Nutcracker. She had had about 3-4 years of dance lessons but in the 8 months she has been with Miss Elizabeth she has become a dancer. The difference is night and day and I view the previous experience as a waste of time and money. I had the opportunity to study with EB's mother over 40 years ago and at that time Patti Bathhurst was the best outside of Chicago. Miss Elizabeth has taken what her mother taught her to new heights. She is indeed the best. In addition, I have found her to be truly nurturing and caring toward each and everyone of her girls. She focuses on building confidence. The School of Indiana Youth Ballet provides a foundation of ballet technique second to none in Northwest Indiana. The dancers who train at this studio shine at auditions. My daughter loves being a part of the comaraderie shared with other students; she has encountered too much drama and pettiness between girls at school and in other extra curricular actiivities. At IYB, not only is she being groomed appropriately to further her dance technique, she is also made to feel confident and part of a congenial dance "family".
