SkunksSkunks mainly feed on grasshoppers, beetles, insects, crickets, mice, and rats. Skunks prefer to live next to ponds, fields, abandoned cars, and in burrows underneath structures. They do not hibernate and they are nocturnal. They can temporarily blind a person for 15 minutes with their spray. OpossumsThese creatures are repulsive and carry a bad odor. They have long grayish hair and are about one to three feet long. They cause a nuisance by entering garages, crawl spaces, yards, and under structures. They live in birds nests, under buildings, and in garages. They destroy yards by digging for food. They eat anything they can, including vegetation, insects, garbage, and fish. They are nocturnal. Raccoons Raccoons live near water, in hollow trees, and underneath porches and outbuildings. They are the most known to carry rabies. They eat garbage, berries, fruits, vegetables, fish, frogs, mussels, and insects. They damage garbage cans, chimneys, and dig up yards. They travel with a family for a year. They are nocturnal. They are known to make their way into dens, attics, buildings, porches, and chimneys. SquirrelsThere are 4 types of squirrels indigenous to the area: Flying, Grey, Red, and Fox. They generally inhabit wooded areas but as communities expand, they find other places to live. They will gnaw wood and move into attics. They will tear up gardens and eat ornamental plants or garden plants. They will nest next to electrical cables and wiring. They will gnaw electrical wires in and around houses.
