I am not sure if you can help me but I am searching for old phone directories. Directories that would be from 1947 through 1955 for Chicago, or Cook County. I am researching the Veterans Temporary Housing on land that was leased from the Cook County Forest Preserve located on the far northwest side of Chicago at Pueblo (Cumberland) and Montrose that may have been a part of Norwood Township. Check your social media privacy settings If you havesocial mediaaccounts in the default settings, it is surprising how much of your information is visible to anyone. That's why we recommend that you carefully review your privacy settings: it's up to you to decide what information will become public to strangers and their friends - or even to anyone else, other than yourself. Modify the privacy settings for your social media accounts. 2. Do not use public storage for private information Sharing too much is not limited to social media. Do not use online services designed to share data for the purpose of storing your personal information. For example, Google Docs is not an ideal place to store a list of passwords, just like Dropbox is not the best for passport images unless they are in an encrypted file. Do not use sharing services to store your personal data. 3. Avoid crawling When you visit a website, your browser reveals some things about you and your browsing history. Marketers use this information to chart their profile and refine the ads that are displayed. The anonymous mode cannot prevent this crawl; you need special tools. 4. Keep your primary email address and private phone number What do you get for sharing your email address and phone number? Tons of spam in your inbox and hundreds of automatic links. Even if you can not avoid using this information with online services and stores, do not make it available to random people on social media. Consider also creating a disposable email address, plus a separate phone number for such cases, if possible. Create another email account and buy an additional chip for online purchases and other situations that require sharing your data with strangers. 5. Use end-to-end encrypted messaging applications Most current messaging applications use encryption, but in many cases, they call it in-transit encryption - messages are decrypted when they arrive at the provider and are stored on their servers. What happens if someone hacks these servers? Do not risk -click for more infohere and choose new VPN proxy server - so the service provider can not read your conversations. Use a messaging application with end-to-end encryption - WhatsApp, for example. Note that, by default, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, and Google Allo do not use end-to-end encryption. To enable it, start a secret conversation manually. 6. Protect your phone and computer with passwords or access codes Our computers and phones store a lot of data that we'd rather keep private, so protect them with passwords. They need not be complicated or unique, nor should they be accessible to the point that anyone can find out. On mobile devices, go a little further: Six-digit PINs or real passwords instead of four-digit combinations or screen lock patterns. For devices that support biometric authentication - whether fingerprint reading or facial recognition - that's usually enough, but remember that these technologies have limitations. Use passwords or biometric authentication to block your phones, tablets, and computers. 7. Disable notifications on the lock screen What's the point of protecting your phone with a long, secure password, but allowing notifications on the lock screen?
