I just moved in this summer from out of state and I've gotta say I LOVE IT HERE! I rented site unseen since I was coming from TX and that property is everything it represented itself to be online (and in speaking to the manager over the phone and via email). It's literally one of the only places in town that you can have pets...I was so worried I was going to have to leave my dog at home. The apts are pretty and spacious and the grounds look to be well taken care of. I'm greatly looking forward to the remainder of my stay here. When I rented one of their units, it was cheap (under $550 at Scott Court). But of course, you do get what you pay for. Reasonably nice units, but as you can tell from the comments left by the management, not the most professional outfit. As is the case with most Iowa City landlords, they feel entitled to your security deposit and will fight you for every last penny of it. Also, expect rent increases and new rules arbitrarily applied. Maintenance, snow removal, and cleaning of common areas was slow to non-existent. So Chambers Management, WOW so i don't know why the management is there? They don't manage anything! THEY HAVE CREEPY OLD MEN MANAGE FOR THEM!! Do they even do a background check on the people they "vote" to "watch" the grounds? Example #1 I'm leaving my condo and i look down the hall and i see the so called "Grounds Keeper" WITH HIS HEAD TO THE WALL LISTENING TO PEOPLE IN THEIR HOMES!! (I have seen this more than once) Example # 2 So my friend just got back for Iraq and drove to my condo building where he was stopped by a man running out the middle of the driveway! This man was the grounds keeper! Telling him he couldn't drive through the parking lot because he doesn't live in the condos! My friend told the man i am visiting a friend and the old replayed with "I’m going have you arrested for trespassing, and then told him to leave!! WHAT?? How and what does Chambers Management do to check the people they vote to be grounds keepers? Would you let this happen to you? ...read more
