"PAINT IT WHITE"

Paint it white. The color white. Fresh white. Clean white. Any kind of white. Keep it simple. However....after doing some research and evaluation from my own personal professional experience, there is an approximate count of about 600 different versions of the color white...or, if you will, the color-less white. Hey...Who knew?  How many whites can there possibly be?  Well this has become a level to conquer despite what any real estate agent, property manager or interior decorator thinks.  Everyone is fairly indifferent until the color goes on, and then there come the bursts of opinions and preferences.  So with that, if one is going to paint walls for a living, then one has to become savvy in handling this issue and doing so instantly.  In my experience one of the first rules of thumb is to apply a shade of white that is easy on the eyes.  A pretty general formula is ( unless the walls are already bright white, and even then....tone it down a bit ) that it's best to match the same white that is already there.  This makes for an easier labor job and less amount of paint to be needed. In doing so you cut down your cost or your client's cost a bit ( or a lot depending on the square footage you have to cover) and make your work time-frame shorter. All walls being the same color makes the room appear and feel larger.  An accent wall is nice and really is just a matter of personal preference and can give the room some custom drama.  However, when it comes down to rentals and for sale preparations…go all white. Creamy, off-white and leave the bright white-white on your doors and trim. It's kind of like the Forrest Gump moment when he would listen to Bubba talk about his dream for having a shrimp restaurant.  There was fried shrimp, baked shrimp, sautéed shrimp, shrimp cakes, shrimp salad, and on and on.  That's the world of choice for your "make it beautiful with paint" mission.  Since the majority of my customers are military, and are trained to be immaculate, think immaculate, live immaculate and many times will choose their living at home colors in the same arena of khaki, mint green, mild olive green, moss green, gray-green and so forth, it is good food for thought to make your walls a nice cream or off-white or light tan and have your furniture make the color statements.  Besides, a brown, tan, gray or dark green sofa is less maintenance and a very nice contrast to the lighter walls. Remember, no matter where you live….be it On-Post or Off-Post when it comes time to leave and you the client want or need much of your deposit money back, white is going to be the final choice whether you make that choice or not.So take a deep breath, think about the big picture, what you will either have to live with for a while or what will make your renting / selling presentation and move go faster and better.  The quality of paint….well that's another area that I will talk about next time. There are always variables and reasons why there are so many choices.  In the meantime, keep it simple and no matter what color you do choose….just think "clean". Rule of thumb: "do not wash walls, paint walls." You will be glad you did. In the end it is less work, less expense. If you have enjoyed this moment with us, be sure to send some feedback. Our future conversations about painting will show up for you to read and hopefully help.Thank you / Mahalo for viewing  these websites: www.
