The Nappy Hutt (Natural Hair Care Salon & Braid Center)

4.0

By Anonymous

I am very satisfied with my twist-out hair style. I called the Nappy Hutt up after I was given a card by a friend. I had to go to their home for my consultation, as they were not yet set up at the new location. They had products laid out for display and went over each one and what they were used for. The product line that they use was the Taliah Waajid line, which I found out, is their sister. Their consultation was thorough. They actually took my hair down, put their hands in it to feel its condition. Offered me a free trim, a deep conditioning and suggested which products would give me the best results for my desired twist style. Jibril shampooed my hair and OMG, he gives great shampoos. The entire service took a little longer than I expected, but the end result was WHAT WAS PROMISED TO ME. The icing on the cake was when they guaranteed their styles and told me that if for any reason, my hair frizzed up before time, I could come back and they would fix it for me. Now that's great! ...read more

Sylvan Learning of Savannah

My grandson Joey (3rd grade) is having a hard time in reading. After 100+/- hours at the Savannah GA Learning Center, they are now turning their backs on us! Can't even get anybody at Sylvan Headquarters on the phone. Some centers may be good, but the one in Savannah is not. The teachers help the students with the test and they claim they are doing good!!!! Parents beware, if you have an issue, Sylvan Headquarters will just give you lip service. ...read more

The CEO

Our family moved from Chicago to Alexandria when I was about five years old. We eventually bought a house on the Potomac River. The water was my playground. After highschool, I went away to college. I eventually ended up at New York University for a master degree. After graduating from NYU, I worked for General Development Corporation in Florida as field biologist. Later, I got a job in the Federal Government as an industrial hygienist. During my career in the federal government, I had the opportunity to participate in or lead a number of sensitive investigations. For example, in December 1984 immediately after the Bhopal gas tragedy at the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plant, I led a team to inspect a similar Union Carbide pesticide plant in Georgia. The Bhopal disaster remains the world's worst industrial catastrophe. An estimated 8,000 people died within the first weeks and another 8,000 have since died from gas-related diseases. There were 558,125 injuries. After the September 11 attacks in 2001, I volunteered to work side-by-side with rescuers at ground zero doing air sampling and handing out respirators to anyone who wanted one. I left my government job in 2002 and created Industrial Hygiene Services, LLC. and recently added Modern Disease Prevention L.L.C. to my business enterprises. I have an educational web site at www.ModernDiseasePrevention.com if you feel inclined to take a look. ...read more

Industrial Hygiene Instruments

Analytical instruments that are available to the Industrial Hygienist fall into three general categories: detectors, monitors and analyzers. Detectors look for specific chemicals and alert the user if they are present in a sample. They show little or no interference and are used in a go/no-go type evaluation. Detectors are generally smaller, lighter and easier to use than the other categories but have limited flexibility. For the initial assessment of a potential chemical warfare agent attack or toxic industrial chemical spill, a detector is the instrument of choice. The HAZMATCAD is in this class of equipment as are colorimetric tubes. Monitors generally are employed when a chemical is known to be present and its concentration must be measured and monitored. This type of equipment quantifies the concentration of a specific chemical and is generally more sensitivity to a specific chemical than a detector. Monitors can report false positives when non-target chemicals are present. An example of a monitor is an Ion Mobility Spectrometer. Monitors are the first choice in decontamination of victims and equipment. Analyzers are the most sophisticated of the three categories of instruments. Most have the ability to identify and quantify several vapors or compounds simultaneously. Analyzers are more expensive and require more training than detectors and monitors. Mass spectrometers or gas chromatographs are examples of this category of instrument. Analyzers are best suited to the evidence recovery or forensic investigation phases of an incident.
