We recently moved to Rome from an area that was blessed with a huge depth of options in the "elegant-casual" "fine-dining" style, and have been surprised by the paucity of such restaurants in Rome. We received attentive service, and the food was first-rate - impeccably prepared, presented and served. The wine list, while limited, was well thought out and generally reasonably priced. If you are like what appears to be the vast majority of those who dine out in Rome, and prefer predictable chain-restaurant fare, don't go to the Prickly Pear - head straight for Ruby Tuesday's or whatever clone suits your fancy. On the other hand, if you're looking for an interesting and elegant dining experience, with top-notch food, I strongly recommend the Prickly Pear. The food was excellent but our server was rude and pushy. She didn't seem to know much about the menu items and did little to compensate for their lack of in-stock wine. I believe her name was Andrea and we would be willing to eat there again if we could guarantee that she would not wait on our table.
