I had made 2 appts for hair styles. I called only to make one but when I noted that my other daughter was considering getting her hair done, the girl on the phone recommended I make one for her too. I only brought the 1 daughter to the appt and I was charged $20 for an No-show for the other. I didn't realize this and tipped the stylist on top of the $20 charge! The No Show fee was not disclosed on the phone OR in person when I was handed the bill! I only realized it when I got home. Even though our family has gone there for years, we will NOT be back. ...and i wouldn't trust the Anonymous posts on this salon below. ...read more

SEPHORA

This Sephora is ridiculously snooty. Every time I go into the store, I am stalked by the manager. At least I think she is the manager because she walks around as If she is the owner. I am insulted and disgusted at the customer service there. I usually go in there to buy bareMinerals, so when I go, I spend big. They have just lost a great customer and I'm sure I am not the only one that feels this way. I have never stolen a day in my life and never will. I feel like a criminal when I go into that store. ...read more

Bangs

Bangs are a popular feature of many different hair styles. They can help change the shape of a face, draw attention to the eyes, and soften most looks for men, women, and teens. Many people choose to wear bangs to help adjust the overall look of their face, while other people use bangs to trim the hair along the sides of their face and keep it under greater control, particularly for young children. Bangs and Hair Loss Bangs can also be used to conceal hair loss, particularly a receding hairline. By growing bangs a bit longer, they can disguise minimal hair loss, but individuals who attempt this should be careful: using too much hairfor bangs will simply make the hair higher on the crown of the head look even thinner. Before choosing a bang style, visit Salon DeLaJe for a professional consultation to see if the style would work well for your face shape. Styles That Work with Bangs   Bangs are more than just a fringe of hair along the forehead. Hair styles with bangs can be fun, flirty, mysterious, practical, and stylish. Shorter, thicker bangs are often easier to control because a few strands out of place will not be noticed, whereas very thin bangs can be longer, even draping over the eyes if desired. Bangs can be curled, teased for greater volume, or swooped across the forehead for a curvy style. Very short bangs can also be stood straight on end, a popular style with young men. Many styles look excellent with bangs, including: Bobs Layered cuts Choppy cuts Asymmetrical styles Emo, scene, and other alternative looks Sideswept styles Ponytails Types of Bangs Specific types of bangs include: Blunt Bangs: These bangs are cut evenly across the forehead and typically fall barely below the eyebrow. Choppy Bangs: These bangs are texturized for a more casual, slightly messy look. Baby Bangs: These bangs are cut straight across, very short, close to the hairline. Asymmetrical Bangs: This is an uneven type of bang that is cut shorter on one side and gradually lengthens. Parted Bangs: Often worn with longer hair styles, parted bangs are longer than blunt bangs and part in the middle or just slightly off center.  Sideswept Bangs: A longer bang look, these can be pushed off to the side. It's a great way to wear bangs when growing them out. Barely-There Bangs: Many romantic and special occasion styles incorporate several pieces of hair that fan across the forehead for a barely-there bang. This wispy look works especially well for those with layered styles. 80's Bangs: Also referred to as mall hair, 80s bangs looks included high, heavily teased and hairsprayed bangs, mid-length bangs with defined under curls from curling irons, and crimped bangs. While most bangs styles can be very flattering, one type of look that stylists recommend avoiding is the 'baby bang.' This very short bang is a look that is almost universally unflattering, regardless of face shape. Caring for Hair Styles with Bangs   Because bangs directly frame the face, they must be meticulously cared for to present the best appearance. Bangs should be trimmed every 4-6 weeks to remove split ends and even out the fringe. To prevent a squared-off look, the edges of bangs can be gradually tapered to blend in with the rest of the hair – very long bangs may even be tapered for several inches. Many styles with bangs require minimal products such as gel, mousse, or spray to keep them in place. Bangs may show oil and grease more quickly, particularly on individuals with oily facial skin, and they must be thoroughly washed to remove buildup. Growing Out Bangs As people want to change their hair styles, they may decide to grow out bangs. This can be a lengthy process, particularly for individuals with long hair: the bangs may need to grow several inches before matching the rest of the hair. When growing out bangs, be sure to continue trimming them at regular intervals to prevent split ends and damaged growth, and consider using head bands or other accesories to hide them while they are in transition. ...read more

Fried Hair

After color treatments, blow-drying and curling our hair has taken a beating. It is frizzy, split on the ends and hard to deal with. How do we get rid of the fried hair and, calm down our locks before our next appointment with our stylist?     Don't worry, you don't have to stop the highlights, low-lights, or the bleach and dye. What you will need to do is put a little more work into your hair each day. What is happening to your hair is very simple. Your hair is getting completely dried out from all of the heat styling and chemicals being put into it. We need to jumpstart your hair and give it back some of it's natural moisture.     Try to wash and towel-dry your hair or let it air-dry at night time. Don't blow dry it. If you use a glossing or styling cream on your hair, apply it while your hair is still damp and use a brush or comb to distribute the product. In the morning, apply a heat protector on your hair before you turn on any styling tools then, style away! As time goes on, many people will find their hair easier to style using this method.     If you really need a boost for the dry hair, make an appointment at Salon DeLaJe for a conditioning treatment. Don't get anything else on the hair but that treatment. Find out what Redken products your stylist recommends for you to use. In specific, get a recommendation for a good glossing or styling cream and, a good heat protector. By the time you are ready for your next service at the salon, you will have a routine to keep your hair "just out of the salon" soft and smooth. ...read more
