A lot of people confuse made from scratch and homemade.......there IS a difference. Homemade can be buying pre-made cookie dough from the store and baking it at home. Made from scratch is making that cookie dough before you bake it. The term homemade is used way too much and has diluted it's meaning over time. It's very rare, in the South, to find bakeries that are made from scratch. Most either bring in the cakes frozen or they use box mixes......THIS IS NOT FROM SCRATCH. A lot of them even use frosting from a tub......Yuck! Made from scratch is what your Great Grandmother did, or if your lucky enough, what your Grandmother did or does. The art of it seems to have been lost somewhere from the Grandmothers to the Mothers of today. Busy schedules are to blame for a lot of it, but if you have someone that bakes from scratch.........ask them to teach you.
