About Jackson, GA
Jackson, founded in 1826 and named after President Andrew Jackson, is located in Butts County, Georgia. Industrial textile mills were the main employers of the city's residents in the 20th century. Since the 1970's, there have been no city taxes. The city is considered to be a bedroom community, and a perfect place to live for people commuting to Atlanta. Students living in Jackson attend the Butts County School District which consists of one high school, one middle school, and three elementary schools. Famous people with ties to Jackson include former U.S. Congressman Mac Collins and Survivor:Africa contestant Teresa Cooper.
