About Ball Ground, GA
Ball Ground is a city located in Cherokee County Georgia. Before 1882, when the railroad started coming through the town, it was purely agricultural area. The city is known for its marble-working industry. The Roberts Marble Company, the Consumer Monument Company, and the Ball Ground Monument Company are all located in the city. Major attractions here include Calvin Farmer Park and the Community Center Complex. The only school located in the city is the Ball Ground Elementary School. The city is also the site of the famous Battle of Taliwa. The battle between the Cherokee and Creek Indian tribes was said to have been settled with a game of stick ball.
