Power Washing

When is it time to pressure wash my home? Every two years for exterior walls, and 3 years for tile roofs. Driveways, Sidewalks, Walkways, etc. or ( flat work) as we call it in the industry, is based on several considerations, landscaping surrounding it, Older vegetation tends to shade more of these areas and mold grows more quickly, low spots also play a role these areas turn into sediment catch areas and often have a shade of black or brown.  Automobiles play a key role, fluid leaks should be addressed immediately upon discovery, there are many absorbents on the market and keeping some in the garage can save you the trouble of hiring a pro later on to remove them,( and you will need a pro to remove them) oil and trans fluid are a challenge for even the most seasoned pressure washer.  Tire marks give even the most manicured homes a unsightly appearance. Depending on what is acceptable to you is really the only guide line. ...read more

Keeping your Home Clean is a Health issue by Gulf Coast Power Washing

Why ? Many contractors in the Mobile Power-Wash industry use some form of Sodium Hypochlorite for cleaning the various items that they contract to clean. Some call it  Bleach, Chlorine or even Clorox but in reality it isSodium Hypochloritethis Chemical along with water tempters exceeding 170 degrees is excellent in killing Germs that can spread from exterior surfaces into your Home. What surfaces are most likely to be sources of contamination? Germs can be spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth. Droplets from a cough or sneeze of an infected person move through the air. Germs can be spread when a person touches respiratory droplets from another person on a surface like a desk, for example, and then touches their own eyes, mouth or nose before washing their hands. What kills influenza virus? Influenza virus is destroyed by heat (167-212°F [75-100°C]). In addition, several chemical germicides, including chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, detergents (soap), iodophors (iodine-based antiseptics), and alcohols are effective against human influenza viruses if used in proper concentration for a sufficient length of time. For example, wipes or gels with alcohol in them can be used to clean hands. The gels should be rubbed into hands until they are dry. The EPA has also posted information regarding products that can be used to combat the Swine Influenza A (H1N1) Virus. ...read more
