The new Miele Home Care S6 Series Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Irby&Stutchman; Vacuums is proud to offer the latest products and practices in the vacuum cleaner and floor care industry.  We recently had an opportunity to try out the newest canister vacuum cleaner offered by Miele within the S6 series known simply as the 'Home Care'. The Miele S6 Home Care is a very nice compact canister vacuum cleaner.  The unit shares qualities found within the entire S6 series line.  The S6 Home Care vacuum cleaner has Miele's larger 1200 watt motor found in the much larger S5.  It weighs in at just over 10 pounds, has a sealed system, post H.E.P.A. filtration, it is quiet and extremely maneuverable.  In addition to the standard set of tools found on the Miele S6 series of canister vacuum cleaners, the Home Care also includes a longer flexible crevice tool and the versatile SUB20 Flexible Universal Brush. What makes this machine unique is the way you can buy the vacuum cleaner.  The Miele Home Care is sold without a power nozzle that comes prepackaged with other Miele vacuum cleaners for cleaning carpets.  Instead you have the option of buying the vacuum cleaner with your choice of the SEB 217-3 (for medium to low carpets),  SEB 228 (for thicker carpets) or the SEB 236 power nozzle (for all types of carpets and best for pets).  The best value is choosing the S6 Home Care with either the SEB 217-3 or the SEB 236 power nozzles.  Both power nozzles perform great for their specific applications and make the Miele S6 Home Care a great buy.  There is nothing else you'll need to buy except for a pack of bags or two since the vacuum is going to clean so much better than most people have ever experienced. The Miele S6 Home Care is a premium canister vacuum that offers a big value for those looking for the best.  Even if the Miele S6 Home Care is not right for your specific needs, there are other Miele S6 units that just might be the perfect vacuum for you. http://irbyandstutchman.com/Store/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=91 ...read more

What is the best vacuum?

My family and I have been serving Orlando for over 40 years.  We are one of the largest volume vacuum cleaner dealers in Orlando along with Ocoee, Melbourne, Sanford, Kissimmee, Clermont, Altamonte Springs and Mount Dora.  There hasn't been a day that goes by that someone doesn't ask me what is the best vacuum cleaner they can buy.  I tell everyone the same thing.  The best vacuum is the one that does everything you expect it to and fits your specific needs.  If one vacuum could please everyone, I wouldn't need over 40 different models in our showroom. Knowing Your Floor Plan The way to choose the best vacuum cleaner for your needs is simple.  First you need to look at your home.  Do you have a larger home over 2,000 square feet?  The reason is that most vacuum cleaners you see on the shelves in department stores are built to handle homes that are 2,000 square feet or less.  Do you have more carpet or more hard surfaces in your home?  People that have carpet through 60% or more of their home should consider an upright.  If 60% of your home is made up of hard surfaces like tile, wood or laminate then a canister is typically a better investment with your money.  The reason is uprights were originally designed to do carpet and canisters were designed to do hard surfaces.  If you simply refuse to convert from the type you are presently using that is okay.  Most vacuum cleaner dealers should have a big enough selection to help you. Forget About Amperage Amperage was once a great way to start looking for the most powerful vacuum.  Now you can find vacuum cleaners from $50 to $2,000 that all have 12 amp motors.  The reason why everything is 12 amps is simple. It is all marketing.  Amperage is not an indicator of how much power a vacuum cleaner's motor will generate. It is simply a measurement to tell you how much power the vacuum cleaner will use.  Some of the best vacuums out there like the Riccar RSL5, Riccar Brilliance and Miele S7 uprights all use main motors that are less than 11 amps. HEPA vs H.E.P.A. Do you know what you are really buying when you are buying a vacuum that has HEPA?  In most cases you are only buying a name and will never see a true advantage in filtration.  The word HEPA has been manipulated by marketing departments to make you believe you are buying the very best to help you with allergies or asthma.  The fact is there are no government standards to make a vacuum manufacturer prove its claims.  The original use of H.E.P.A. is used as an acronym meaning High Efficiency Particulate Arrestor. Very few brands use the word H.E.P.A. in this way because they can not retain the fine microscopic dust that the name implies.  Most homeowners will find better filtration results and relief from vacuum cleaners that use an Allergen bag as opposed to a bag-less vacuum that uses a HEPA. Bag vs Bag-less This one isn't so simple.  I prefer bags because I know from our experience in vacuum cleaner repairs that bagged vacuums last 3 times longer on average.  Bagged vacuum cleaners also tend to clean better because the air flow of the vacuum is more direct.  I also hate getting the dirt and filth from the container all over me.  The other problem is once a bag-less vacuum develops an odor it is almost impossible to eliminate.  With a bag we have special deodorizers that go inside the bag and you can quickly toss a vacuum cleaner bag with no fuss.  Plus the cost of most filters on cheaper bag-less vacuums practically makes the vacuum cleaner disposable.    Setting Your Expectations When you finally decide to purchase a new vacuum cleaner you need to be realistic about what you want and what you can afford.  I always find it interesting when I read reviews and someone says this is the best vacuum ever and the vacuum only costs $50.  The reality is what may satisfy your neighbor may not meet your expectations of "clean".  That is the key.  Are you a homeowner that wants to truly deep clean your carpets and clean your floors or are you okay with the appearance of clean?  A perfect example is when people tell me their upright vacuum cleans hard surfaces.  Yes, the vacuum will pickup the big stuff, but a lot of the debris is blown around.  To me, that is not cleaning hard surfaces correctly.  My expectation is 100% of the dirt and debris will be picked up by the vacuum.   It's important to have an idea about what you want.  Sometimes all the extra time spent doing research can actually make purchasing a new vacuum cleaner a bigger ordeal than it should be.  Do yourself a favor. Don't go crazy researching every brand under the sun.  Take the time to visit a retailer or vacuum cleaner dealer that has several models that you can actually try.  Find a place that will take the time to help you make an informed purchase and is willing to stand behind their recommendation. ...read more
