Are you having drainage problems and don't know what to do?
Is your yard still wet from the storm last weekend? If so you have poor drainage. For water to flow and drain across the surface of your property the elevation needs to drop at least one inch every twenty feet in the direction of flow or you could have standing water. If your property doesn't have that minimum slope, you need to do more than just install a perforated pipe to drain the water, You're going to need a basin with a sump pump to drain properly. Many professionally designed and installed drain systems are made up of corrugated/perforated drain pipe, with adapters that connect directly to the downspouts from your gutters. If the slope isn't good, the system will need to drain into a basin with a sump pump to take the water to a place it can be directed away from the property. Along with getting rid of the water that comes from your roof, you need to get rid of the ground water to. That's why perforated sock pipe is used. With perforated sock pipe installed in the bottom of the drain trench, back fill the trench with at least a 3/4" Lime rock gravel to about 1-2" below the top of the trench. At this point lay sod directly over the gravel. Now water can quickly drain into the pipe along the entire area filled in with rocks. The quicker the water flows into the pipe the quicker it will make it to the basin and be pumped out. This is a brief description...
