Riverside neighborhood homeowners in Jacksonville, Florida wanted some custom built-ins for added storage space in their home office. After seeing some of our competed custom woodworking projects in our website Gallery, they contracted Borders Woodworks to design, build, and install a pair of custom, solid wood built-ins, which included a Murphy bed. Our clients wanted a Murphy bed, one that folds up into a wall, a closet, or for this project, a built-in bookshelf unit. This design concept has been popular for saving space since early in the 20th century. A Murphy bed provides a comfortable bed when folded out. And when folded up, a Murphy bed allows the same floor space to be easily used for other purposes. Borders Woodworks constructed both of these custom home office built-ins with solid hardwood. They feature detail trim and were painted white, and finished with contrasting black hardware.
