Normandy Dentistry

So my husband goes to Normandy Dentistry and this is what he had to say: Service is always great. People at the front desk are always smiling and happy to help. There is never any pressure put on you in regards to their suggestions. They are very cool about how they kind of put out there what you need and let you make decisions that you are comfortable with both medically and financially. Let's be honest though what really matters here is the work. They are top notch in that category. As someone that is terrified of the dentist (even as a 34 year old man), they always make me feel very comfortable in the chair. They have a technique where you don't feel the numbing shot, which is a bonus. On top of it all I have never had any issues with any work done there. Great place and I would highly recommend. ...read more

Schneider, Howard S

I took my 4-year-old grandson to Dr. Schneider twice, just recently, a few weeks ago and I was quite pleased with Dr. Schneider, as well as his staff. The wait is pretty long, but I have no complaints as far as the care that was given. Dr. Schneider was pleasant, professional, and just a sweet man to talk to. ...read more

August 2014 paid $9,000 to have 5 implants & several extractions done including the crowns on the implants First procedure I had 3 upper implants put in and as I'm leaving the office I feel one implant sticking way up thru my gums & I feel another sharp object sticking thru the front of my gums,I just spent 6-8 hours getting shot up with pain numbing so they tell me I'm fine and they will see me in 4-5 months. 2 weeks later the implant that was sticking up just falls out in my mouth (this was supposed to be screwed into my jawbone) so I let them know and they say will see you on 2nd visit. Jan 13 2015 2nd visit Dr Gerry starts looking in mouth for implants and finds another one sticking thru the front of my gums (again this was supposed to be screwed into my jawbone) so she tells me that "your mouth rejected these 2 implants" No they didn't they were never put in properly. So now I'm told that I'm just out the money on those 2 & need a different procedure for more money. We haven't even done 2 top implants or 2 bottom implants. This Dr is a ripoff who promises complete jobs then screws them up & tries to get more money. DONOT use this dentist I am filing complaints everywhere & with the state medical board! So if you see ads for SMILE DESIGNS of Jacksonville by Dr Charlotte Gerry run the other way!!! ...read more

Dental anxiety ruining your smile?

For many people, dental anxiety is a serious issue that threatens their oral health and overtime, their overall health and well being. There are many reasons why people suffer with a fear of the dentist, but the most common is a previous bad experience. Jacksonville dentist Dr. Alexander understands dental phobia and offerssedation dentistryto patients who would like to feel relaxed during a dental procedure. Sedation dentistry enables Dr. Alexander to provide preventive, restorative or cosmetic dental treatments while a patient relaxes comfortably in an “awake” state, but feels no pain or anxiety. Dr. Alexander offers both oral sedation and nitrous oxide, and will assess the dental health and needs of the patient before recommending a method of sedation. While both methods are extremely safe and effective, there are pros and cons to each which Dr. Alexander will discuss ahead of time. Known as “laughing gas”, nitrous oxide is typically preferred by both dentist and patient because the effects are only felt when the patient is wearing the mask. Patients using nitrous oxide can drive themselves home after a procedure. In some cases, several treatments can be completed while the patient is under sedation, saving time, money, and anxiety! Watch this quick ADA video on what to expect with nitrous oxide: If you have been avoiding the dentist, come in for a consultation with Dr. Alexander. He will help you to restore your oral health while ensuring that you feel confident and comfortable during treatment. ...read more

Is your snoring affecting your overall health?

Snoringis a very common sleep habit affecting millions of Americans each night. In many cases, it is simply the result of a short illness or congestion, an awkward sleeping position or simply how you breathe while at rest! However, there are a growing number of people who unknowingly suffer with a sleep disorder of which snoring is a symptom that is affecting the quality of their sleep and their daily life: patients with sleep disorders often wake up feeling tired and groggy even after being “asleep” for 8 hours. Jacksonville dentist Dr. Alexander practices dental sleep medicine and foundedThe Sleep Therapy Center of North Floridato offer treatment for those suffering from sleep disorders, particularly obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Dr. Alexander has both experience and training in the diagnosis and treatment of OSA, a sleep disorder that can ultimately be life threatening if left untreated. OSA can affect anyone, but is most prevalent among men, smokers, people who are overweight and those who have smaller airways and/or a large neck circumference. Patients with OSA briefly stop breathing during their sleep and then abruptly resume breathing with a loud snore, often waking either themselves, their partner- or both! Even if they do not wake during the night due to their snoring, patients awaken in the morning feeling unrested, groggy and may also suffer additional symptoms throughout the day: Daytime fatigue Headaches Irritability and trouble concentrating Dry mouth in the morning OSA threatens overall health and can be the cause of or worsen certain health conditions: high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, heart disease, depression and cognitive impairment. OSA raises the risk of cardiac arrest in those with heart disease and can also be the cause of sudden death. Dr. Alexander treats OSA and snoring with oral appliance therapy, an alternative to the CPAP. Considered the “gold standard” of treatment for OSA, the CPAP often fails patients due to a lack of consistent compliance: many fail to use it due to lack of comfort or personal embarrassment. Oral appliance therapy has proven to relieve symptoms and reduce health risks because patients find it more comfortable and will use the appliance each night. Dr. Alexander will custom fit an oral appliance designed to stabilize the lower jaw and tongue, effectively maintaining an open airway for steady breathing and no snoring! ...read more

Make A New Years Resolution For Better Oral Health..

We’ve all done it: made a New Years resolution to eat healthier. Some of us have succeeded and some of us haven’t. But in 2016, there’s another reason to keep up with your healthy eating resolution – a healthy and nutritious diet is good for your oral health too! Jacksonville, FL Dentist Dr. Donald Alexander reminds all patients that a healthy smile is the most beautiful smile! Poor nutrition affects the entire body, mouth included. A diet that lacks important daily vitamins and nutrients compromises the immune system, making us more susceptible to those winter colds and flus. Those with lower immune systems are also more susceptible to periodontal disease. What you drink is just as important as what you eat. The recommended daily water intake is eight 8-ounce glasses a day. Water not only keeps you hydrated but it also keeps your mouth moist. Saliva protects oral tissues and helps wash away foods. Water with fluoride protects the teeth the most. Soft drinks, sugar-filled juices, and sodas cling to your teeth and promote tooth decay. Sipping these drinks is a constant bath of sugar over the teeth. Mindless snacking is not only hard on your waistline, but it also creates an environment for bacteria to develop. The best foods for snacking include firm or crunchy fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats, nuts, and milk. These snacks include calcium, which protects tooth enamel, or have high water content, diluting sugar and stimulating saliva. When you eat foods as part of a meal, saliva helps wash foods and acidity from the mouth. Meals should include a variety of foods from each of the major food groups, including whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and dairy. Foods that are particularly bad for your health (candy, sweets, chips, etc.) are also particularly bad for your teeth. The sugars in these foods adhere to teeth and create bacteria, causing your mouth to release acids and lead to tooth decay. So while you’re resolving to eat better and get that healthy diet on track, keep in mind the added benefits for youroral healthtoo. A well-balanced diet, combined with good daily brushing and flossing habits can lead to a healthier and more beautiful you! ...read more
