"The current dilemma Men Face when it comes to their hair"

Every day, an increasing amount of men seek out salons over the neighborhood barbershop. This is not due to the want of a female stylist or salon surroundings. It is due to a resurgence of manly rituals in the U.S. creating a need for more luxurious shave creams, hair care products, and services. Most barbers refuse to change with the times by providing these same services. Even though it seems new age men pampering themselves is a very old custom. They are not metro-sexual or anything else, we are simply becoming gentlemen again.Unfortunately, men have few choices when it comes to grooming and advice in the pursuit of the gentlemanly endeavor. Sadly almost all current forms of men’s hair cutting establishments only real goal is to move bodies in and out of chairs as quickly as possible to maximize profits or they charge outrageous prices for a decent haircut. Sometimes you can find a barbershop that looks like those of years gone by, but they lack the personal attention and individuality of small businesses. They are often owned by non licensed individuals and run by cosmetologists. Most establishments where men enter for hair related services fall short of what they want. Those who are lucky, find an older barber who embodies all that the profession should be. Barbers who are clean, professional, and know all aspects of their craft (master barbers) but unfortunately for them, their trusted barber will soon retire or has already done so.These Barbers and shops leave behind a void. A community center for men where conversation is abundant and community news pours from every corner, this is the man’s “Town Hall” and nothing else can replace it. Not only do you have a right to a great haircut but even more important is that the barbershop shouldn’t be part of errands and chores. It should be a place where you look forward to being. It’s a hangout a place to talk about things going on with the community, in the news, with the nation, or just the weather. It’s a bond that we men need. Believe it or not, as a barber it’s the bond that makes the job worthwhile. Barbering has a proud history steeped in tradition but has fallen in reputation in recent years. We were once revered as scholars of the tonsorial arts and masters of our craft. We go as far back as written history and even before that. We were shamans and spiritual leaders of our communities, we created cosmetology at the beginning of the 1900’s. We were even the creators of modern medicine, surgery, and dentistry. Pomade and Tonic holds itself and its barbers to the same higher standards as our predecessors when it comes to professionalism, service, and education. We are not just barbers, we are professional barbers, and we are your barber. Our MissionTo provide each client with the choice of more services in an atmosphere that allows them to be social or not, to make an appointment or walk-in, have quality product available in a range of price points, and maintain an environment free from up-sale harassment or embarrassing comments all while in the comfortable surroundings of a traditional barbershop atmosphere, to provide expert advice and services that caters to the personality, style, budget, mood, and desires of each customer, and to create an environment that makes the client feel that no matter who they are, what they do or what they do they will get a quality haircut, great service, and additional options, at a fair price. ...read more
