Progreen

1.0

By BanzaiBill

I went with Progreen based on the recommendation of a friend. Initially the service was okay and the technician was helpful with information about various yard issues. A few days after the second application I noticed that my yard was being torn apart by armadillos (even though the second application was supposed to be for eliminating inspects, the food of the armadillos and the reason they were digging up my yard). I had not had the problem for years and called the company for some help. I spoke with a woman who I was told was the owner and after explaining the problem was told that further insect applications "might" be against the law and she told me the company recommended setting traps for the animals. During the conversation I got the impression that this woman didn't have a clue as to how to address the problem. She concluded by saying she would have the technician contact me but she wasn't quite sure where he was that day. That was on Monday.(As an aside, I had had another company caring for my lawn for three or four years without any armadillo problems and was told their standard insect application eradicated the insect presence and that was why the armadillos weren't tearing up my yard.)Two days after the call to Progreen's office the technician called but I was not home and we traded phone calls. On Friday, five days after my initial call, I called the technician early in the morning and finally made contact with him. I told him about the problem and voiced my irritation with with the lack of response. Yes, I was upset but did not raise my voice or use profanity, it was a regular customer complaint. When I was finished the technician asked, "Is it my turn now." He proceeded to developer an attitude, told me he would be out that day if I wanted to pay an additional $120 for an insect application (as I said, I was paying considerably less on a bi-monthly program with a previous company which had kept the armadillos away). He then launched into a tirade saying that he was the nicest guy in the world, used profanity, and said he didn't "have to take s___ from a retired whatever." I was surprised at the personal attack and told him it wouldn't happen again. I canceled the service the same day. ...read more
