I understand that a training is given to all crossing guards and they become "certified". During the training, do you tell them to stop the entire intersection for 3 children at a time making the line of traffic backed up a 1/4 of a mile? Do you train them to sit and wait for children to arrive at the crosswalk whose parents are letting them off in the street, while holding up all other traffic? Do you train them to yell and argue with parents? If this is all part of your "training" then my rating would be bad. Unfortunately, all of this is a daily event with our "trained" crossing guards. I hear parents and teachers complaining all the time in regards to the guards. Funny, because they are all "trained" and "certified". I would like to offer a suggestion....."train" them a little better. They are rude and have no clue of how to keep a good flow of traffic of vehicles and children. If they are indeed concerned about the safety of the children, they will keep the flow of traffic going and stop the intersection once a GROUP of kids is present. This possibly could deter other parents from stopping in the middle of the road to let their children off for the crosswalk, which is not safe for children.
