Lots of people go through life differently living with ups and downs not knowing how to handle the downs. There are different ways to handle the downs by going to the gym, working, or doing outside activities like fishing. There are two types of fishing I am going to talk to you about. As a child, my father took my brother and me fresh water and salt water fishing. It was a fun experience. Fishing is very relaxing and chill sport. One day, we went pond fishing. I did not know the different types of fish that was in the water. I seen pictures of my dad when he was younger holding Brims, Crappies, Shell-crackers, Bluegill’s, Monmouth Bass, Bass, Catfish, Bowfins, and Long-nose garfish. All the fishes I named are good, and will put up a good fight depending on the size of it. There are also different baits you can use to catch these fish. They are called: night-crawlers, red worms, green worms, wax worms, catalpa worms, crickets, minnows, crawfish, cut bait, and lures. It all depends on the time you are going fishing and what you are fishing for. It is good to go fishing early in the morning around 5 or 6 o’clock or late in the afternoon around 7 or 8 o’clock. \t\t\t\tMake sure you have afishing licensebefore going fishing! Kids under the age of 16 do not need a license and neither do senior citizen. Age 65 and older can fish for the life of them. If you do not have a license and the Department of Natural Resources catch you fishing, they can impound your car and give you a ticket. After, you get your license; you will have to think outside the box. What do you plan on catching? If you buy this bait to catch this fish and it is not working what other baits should I purchase? You should use the size of test line which tells you how much capacity it will holds, and size of the hook. There are two types of fishing string. They are the test line and spider wire. The spider wire is hand braid and suffix siege which is nylon string. I prefer spider wire because it has more slack when casting out, and you don’t need a lot of weight on your line to go out far. With suffix siege, if your test line is 20lb you would need to put a good bit of weight on it to go out far. It is very important to know the types of rods and reels to get. There are different types of rods and reels. For beginners, it is better to get a rod and reel that is already stringed up. They are spinning rods and reels, spin-casters, bait casters, and brim busters. Each rod and reel has its own purpose. The spinning rod is my favorite, but I would not prefer this to a beginner because you will have to do a lot of flicking your wrist, and opening the bail to cast out and closing the bail to stop the line from going out. It is good for fishing in open areas without a lot of trees. The spin-caster is a good rod. This is a reel I would prefer for beginners. The spool keeps the line around the bail enclosed, and the only thing you will have to do is press the button to cast out and turn the handle to lock the line. You can use the spin-caster in open areas and closed areas. you may visitFishingPaxto know more about fishing rods and reel. \t\t\tBait-casters are another one of my favorites, but they can be a challenge. It is similar to the spinning rod, but different. When using the bait-caster, while casting the line, you will need to have your thumb on the spool. In order for your line to go out far with no hard casting, you will need to adjust the star drag which is located beside the handle. I prefer to only use this in open areas. Last but not least is the brim buster. This is a rod I would prefer for beginners. It is very simple, you can either make one out of bamboo or purchase one from the store. All it is is a line tied around the bamboo or if you are buying from the store a line going through the hole at the tip of the rod. This can be used in open and closed areas. Before purchasing the rod, pretend like you are fishing at a pond or wherever you plan on fishing and fishing for in the store before you buy the rod and reel. Some rods are made for left hand people and right hand people. If you are left hand the handle is on left and if you are right hand the handle is on the right. There are different name brands of rods and reels too. I prefer the Ugly stick. It is not breakable; the rod can bend all the way forward without breaking or chipping. If it is your first time fishing, it is best to fish with a stopper, weight, and a hook. The stopper lets you know if a fish is on your line. Some people fish without stoppers. They can tell if they got a fish when the line gets tight and straightens out. Depending on the water depth, it determines how you fish. If the water is high, you fish at the bottom or the middle of the water. If the water is low, you adjust your stopper and fish high. Fishing during the winter and fall, crappie and bass mainly bite. The best bait to use is live minnows. They come to the edge of the water to get their food. During the spring, brims, shell-crackers, bluegill’s, catfish, bowfins, and long-nose garfish bite. They eat all the live bait I listed up top such as night-crawler, red worms, green worms, wax worms, catalpa worms, crickets, minnows, and crawfish. Bowfins and garfish will eat anything! During the spring, bass bite varies. This is the time when they mate. During the summer, all the fish are biting. Crappies bite varies depending on where you are. I prefer to bass fish during the summer using top water lures and bottom water lures and cat fishing using raw hotdogs, chicken liver, shrimp, and herring. Top water lures are plastic frogs, rats, buzz bait, and poppers. You cannot bass fish with lures on a brim buster! Fishing for bass is a challenge and you would have to make the fake lures seem real by jerking and twitching in different motions. They do not bite everything you throw out in the water. You will be doing a lot of casting and changing lures. The frog and rat is good for casting on top of lily pads. You will not have to worry about getting hooked up on a limb or grass beds. Most bass stay under the lily pad for food and shelter. When fishing with the frog and rat, you would want to slowly reel it in and let it sit in a certain locations on top of the lily pad to get the bass attention. You can also fish with it without lily pads being near. You can cast across the edge of the water in the same motion as if you were casting on a lily pad. When a bass bite it, you would want to set the hook by letting it swallow the frog. Buzz bait and poppers are good depending on the type of water you are fishing in. Bottom water lures are spinner baits, crank baits, plastic pumpkin seeds, lizard, and worms. \t\t\tWhen fishing with any plastic lures, you would want to buy some bullet head weights and eagle claw lazar sharp weed less hooks or you can get Barkley Fushion hooks with weight. Sometimes you don’t need weight because today they are making lures with weight already made inside the lure. Yes, the price of the equipment is expensive but it is worth the money. Also, when fishing with plastic lures you would want to let the lure go to the bottom of the water and reel in slow. To catch the bass attention you would need to use lures that is the opposite color of the water. For example if it is muddy, you would want to use a bright color lure. If the water is clear you would want to use a dark color lure. The same technique goes with using a spinner bait or crank bait. Fishing for catfish is not a big challenge. Majority of the catfish will be at the very bottom of the water. They like stank stuff, so you will not be casting a lot like you are bass fishing. You will need some one-pound egg weights, or an eagle claw hook, or some travel hooks. I prefer to use 6/0 eagle claw hooks because when the catfish attacks the hook you will not have to worry about hurting the fish or losing your hook when it swallows it. In conclusion, fishing is a fun relaxing sport. It takes your mind away from stress and other things that are worrying you. If you are in the woods make sure that you are wearing a bright color so when hunters hear something they will not think you are an animal that they are hunting. Also when fishing, make sure you be aware of your surroundings. For example snakes, beavers, alligators and etc. You never know what you will catch, so it is always good to have a net by your side. Make sure you clean up behind yourself! For example: make sure to carry the worm cups, bags, and etc with you so the animal habitat can be safe. To sum everything up, fishing with the bass lures, catfish bait, bowfins and garfish are also great bites to use as bait. Some people fish for fun while others fish for food.
