Don't get blistered!

Bunk trailers are great, they spread the load of the boat over a larger area of hull. This prevents pinpoint pressure that rollers can cause. But bunks can spread something else. Blisters.  Depending on the quality of the boat, and how often it is used, water trapped in the carpet between  the hull and bunks can leave a blister line where they contact. Filler belongs on cars, not boats

Frequently when I grind into gel coat to repair a crack, I find filler. Bondo, marine filler, and the like have little structural integrity, leading to future failure. After the crack has been ground out and reglassed we simply brush on gel coat to fill the pits. That is blocked down and shot later. If a filler is needed, such as repairing small sections of core, we use Cabosil or Aerosile mixed with resin. These products are actually micro balloons of glass.
