DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! They destroyed my nails! The acrylic tips were lifting off my own nail bed! I've been getting acrylic tips for YEARS!!! Never had this happen! The owner Annie said she would do a full set for me over the phone. Said it would take her 25-30 min! When I got there, she pushed me over to some young girl (clearly inexperienced)! I was there over an hr! She didn't know how to file and shape! I called the salon everyday after about 5 days, after one and another nail started to lift. I also called Annie's cell phone, (bc a staff member suggested I reach her that way), I've left several messages for her and still have not heard back! All I wanted them to do was fix the problem they are hiding from there mistakes! Don't go there!!! Thieves, liars, unprofessional dirty nail salon!!! Etc!! unfortunatly this page will not allow me to post pics. However, I have posted them on other websites for reviews. Clearly I am that upset? ...read more

I don't usually write reviews but I had a very bad experience at l v nails in east haven. I wanted to soak off my gel nails and get a manicure. The gentleman was not gentle...he ripped off the gel instead of taking the time to soak it off . With that, he ripped off a portion of my own nail down to the flesh. I told him that it hurt very bad and he ignored me. I couldn't soak the nail in water because it was stinging badly. I told him I was disappointed and I didn't want to pay for the service. He said "you have to pay your not bleeding"! OMG my nail was gone. I asked to speak to the manager and she said "its fine your not bleeding" and wanted to put some type of antiseptic on it. I refused because the wound was open and I don't know what she was putting on me. She told me if I didn't let her put it on and it got infected I couldn't say it was their fault. Then the gentleman said " I didn't do that to you" ...really are you kidding me?! Very unprofessional and the place is dirty! ...read more

Hair Trends from SOHO HAIR GROUP DAY & MED SPA

Hair Trends for Autumn/Winter 2010 October November Inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes this season. Texture is key, but an added focal point introduces interest and individuality to every cut. Autumn/Winter is bursting with contradictions - from long layers to short, blunt crops."The trend for shorter hair will really take off next season. Bobs are softer with the edges bevelled and shattered, offering a soft yet masculine feel to shorter hair."The crop is celebrating 50 years, and with Emma Watson restyling her hair, we will see a rise in demand. Fringes will be a key trend throughout Autumn/Winter, and the bigger and thicker the fringe the better."We created a long A-line shape within the hair, giving the front extra length and the back a blunter, shorter edge."This A-line idea is great on longer hair and gives a beautiful head shape. It can be used on both mid and longer lengths, teamed with ultra modern finishes, giving it a real 2010 chic feel that's very on-trend." "Grunge glam is a key look for the coming season and can be worn and adapted in many ways. Hair should look unpolished and slightly messy, but the key to this look is a great cut!"Take advantage of one of Autumn's biggest trends and suggest the midi-bob as seen on Gwyneth Paltrow and Leigh Lezark."The fringe is also back this season, especially when worn with loose wavy locks that do not look too polished, like Florence Welch. For the client that feels a heavy fringe is too drastic, a side parting: sweep hair to the side and use a combination of textures to create a multi-textured look." "Taking inspiration from high fashion, couture and street style, classic shapes transform into advanced cuts by adding wig-like qualities, with expanded width and vigorous texture, created by elaborate layering techniques."Hair is taking on a more rebellious  finish, while fringes create focal points and interest, using cutting techniques that encourage a lived-in feel and add personality to the shape. Individuality is key in creating an underground, anti-fashion, dishevelled focus." "Emma Watson has gone for a 21st century Twiggy-inspired look with an iconic feel which is adaptable with different textures for winter."This will be one of the key looks for the coming season. We will be seeing short, more scruffy/choppy bobs as seen on Carey Mulligan and Michelle Williams, but with less precision and external texture as worn by Heidi Klum.""This Autumn/Winter, we are looking at style and glamour, but undone fashion."A cut that can sit over a coat and still look stylish will be modern and on-trend, so think a Florence Welch statement, or a softer, long-layered bob like Sienna Miller. ...read more

Keeping your Hair and Skin Healthy

We're often asked "How do I stop my ends from drying out and looking frizzy"? My answer is being sure your hair is saturated w/moisture.  If the hair is full to capacity, it won't go looking for humidity in the air causing it to go limp, or worse getting wider and frizzier.  The key is optimum home care with a product or cocktail that binds moisture to the keratin molecules in the hair fiber.  I have specific reccomendations for each hair type.  "What about my skin"?  Usually clients think they're oily, dry or combination.  Nine times out of 10, it's dehydration that causes the skin to look dull or feel greasy.  There is a care program to normalize these conditions too.  We use a system called the "identitest" that measures accurate amounts of moisture in the dermis (deeper tissue) as well as the epidermis or outside layers that we can touch and cover with moisturizer which makes it feel better temporarily.  There is a solution to combating these issues with a proper home care regimen. ...read more
