Vazzy's is one of the best restaurants and caterers in Connecticut. I have attended numerous events that Vazzy’s has catered and have always found the prices fair, the food excellent and the service superb. I have had personal dealings at party’s, with the manager Ken mentioned by the previous reviewer. I have always found him polite and willing to make guests at the parties I have attended, feel they are truly being ”catered to”. On a recent trip to Connecticut a friend brought me here for lunch. This is a charming little rest. in the heart of Bridgeport. They have a single buffet table and a grill section serving some of the best food I have ever eaten. Normally when you have buffet food one or two of the dishes are good, a few are ok, and the rest leave you wondering why you put that stuff on your plate. That is not the case at Terra Brasilis! Ken in your Milford Vazzys is rude and not a business man at all when dealing with the public. How can a customer be quoted a price, not once, but twice...when food delivered at my home was $60 more?? Ken was rude and even though he acknowledged his mistake, told me that either I pay or send it back....Ken was, in fact the person who verified the amount due the very morning og our party. The Bloodroot Restaurant is very likely the best vegetarian restaurant in the country and will remain in my mind as one of the best restaurants of any variety at which I've had the pleasure of eating. Atmosphere, views, excellent food, there's even a bookstore. They are celebrating their 31st year -- an amazing feat for any small business especially a restaurant. I bought their first cookbook when I became a vegetarian and have used that book faithfully for the last 25 years.\t\n\t\nWhat do I love? Fresh bread & scrumptious desserts are made daily. The menu is seasonal & local , organic ingredients are emphasized. The Bloodroot women take standard American and ethnic flavors and improve them by using high quality ingredients and subtle culinary skills, capturing what you love about a dish but removing the meat. Many of their recipes are now vegan.\t\n\t\nThis is real food for real hunger. I recently had dinner with my wife at Bloodroot and our meals were exceptional: on my plates were a beautiful hearty escarole soup, fresh hot whole wheat bread, a generous tossed salad dressed to perfection, and a piece of vegan lemon curd pie -- zesty with an perfect crust. This restaurant is amazing! Until I found Bereket, I thought the only good Turkish food was in Turkey. Likewise, if you are a fan of Greek cuisine, there will always be something you will enjoy in Turkish food which has similar base dishes but runs off the beaten course with the mantı and kebap. Also, the owners are *super* friendly and there is an unspoken BYOB policy (no corking fee). They are NOT just take out (which I erroneously thought first time there).
