Before I came to see Dr. Chris, I was in pain from head to toe. I had trouble sleeping and day-to-day activities were hard for me to accomplish. I didn't think there was anything I could do other than taking medicine to relieve the pain. Since I starting coming, I've been getting at least six hours of sleep a night. I am no longer having as much troble performing my duties at work or at home and my medicine intake has decreased significantly. Thank goodness my wonderful girlfriend referred me! ...read more

My neck was in the shape of a coat hanger hook and the pain had become severe. Dr Tate worked on it for a few months and my neck is now straight again and the pain is completely gone and I am now functioning correctly. I have continued to take treatments regularly to insure I stay clear of problems. As i age it seems I need regular adjustments to keep my energy system in the proper working order. So far I have been able to get better range of motion and can breathe without pain in my back. Hopefully I can eventually get back to no pain at all, but at this point I think it is too soon to be totally done. Headaches have lessened, I can sleep for longer periods of time and I can sit a little longer in periods of time so I can actually work. ...read more

Anger And the Small Business Owner

"[Y]ou are a person in pain. Whether the pain is occasional or chronic, when it hits, it feels overwhelming. It's a wave that drives you into a state of mind where nothing matters but expressing what you feel… No matter who gets hurt or whatever the consequences. Anger is a way of coping. It helps, temporarily, to overcome the hurt and helplessness. For a moment you feel back in control, and that's exactly why anger is so hard to manage." (McKay and Rogers The Anger Control Workbook)  Anger is: -A response you learned early in life to cope with pain -A temporary way to feel in control and avoid feeling helpless -A habit you developed because until now you have not had the tools to combat your pain  What To Do When You Get Angry STOP! Do not say anything. Do not do anything! Don't act on these angry FEELINGS. These feelings are just an emotion. Yes. Of course it is felt strongly; but you can FEEL angry without ACTING OUT or turning this feeling into a behavior. Step away, move back from this FEELING and label it. "ANGER" – a feeling. Stay aware of this feeling and it's strength, it's pull and push toward actions. Hold onto this feeling. Accept this feeling. Anger in and of it's self is not wrong. After all, God gave us this emotion! Recognize that the anger you feel is a SIGNAL to you that you are in pain! The problem with anger comes when you ACT on that anger to hurt yourself or other people. Now breathe in deeply and hold that breath for a few seconds. Now slowly release that breath. Feel the anger but don't hold onto it. Imagine the anger is an ocean wave – building, building, cresting then slowly receding. Let the feeling come then let it go. Picture this anger wave in your mind's eye. Watch it grow and then recede. Stay mindful of the angry feeling but do not let your thoughts amp up that anger. Do not dwell on the unfairness of the situation. Do not dwell on past failings of the "offending" person. Do not ruminate or dwell on what led up to your angry feelings. Just notice the feeling. Accept the feeling for what it is - just a feeling… Call Cindy at KTA. I can help! ...read more

The PRODUCTIVE Argument

No matter how healthy a relationship, there will still be arguments. This is normal and as it should be as long as the arguments are relatively infrequent, both persons are respectful of the other and wounds that are to deep to heal are not inflicted. Arguments can help person's to see each other's perspective with more "clarity and empathy" and help to discharge tension. Productive arguments all have some basic ground rules. During a time when no argument is eminent and neither party is tired or preoccupied, sit down together and establish an agreed upon set of guidelines so that each party will learn something from the dispute. Avoid interruptions, name calling, obscenities, overly loud voices, storming out, threats. Use lots ofreflective listening(every so often repeat back what you are hearing the other person say so that you stay on the same page.) Demonstrate empathy, use I-statements and make efforts to problem solve with a mutual problem resolution the goal.   ...read more
