Is Your Business Being Run Like the Wild, Wild West?
We all know that www. stands for World Wide Web in a URL address. But this morning I read that:"In the frenzied early days of the Internet, Web developers were making up their own rules. The result was confusion. Among the problems was that what looked good on one computer was unreadable on another. This caused developers to refer to the Internet as the wild, wild Web, an allusion to the days of the wild, wild West in the US when law and order were pretty much nonexistent. To bring order out of chaos, Web developers started calling for others to agree on common standards." *This made me think about the standards and processes in my own business. I've been working with an accountability group that recently discussed our goals for 2011. Goals, just like every day business processes require a well-thought-out plan which is broken down into manageable steps. If my processes are meant to help my business be efficient and effectively help my clients' businesses grow beyond where they are now, they need to be standardized and implemented in a way that works well with existing technology and client needs. Otherwise, systems become inefficient and chaotic and never really flow if you're reinventing the wheel each time you work with a new customer or client, or hire an employee or ship product or ....
