Pupuseria El Comedor Salvadorean Food

The food is nothing special, the service is spotty and the jerk/waiter who owns it will nickel and dime you. It's a sit down place but he sells his beverages in a can so you have to pay every time you want a soda. He won't serve water to a table because he wants to charge you for bottled water. Don't believe me? Then just ask him, he will tell you that he wants to get as much money as possible from you. I saw experienced customers bringing in their own bottled water. ...read more

. Our event kicked off at 6:30pm and everything was great other than our DJ having to finish up setting up his wiring in the middle of guest arriving. At 10pm our festivities had ended and the rest of the night was for dancing. Much of the older crowd left. At 10:30pm a young adult guest approached me that they would not give her water, that it would cost her $2. She had no money with her so I went to the bar and WOW, there was George the owner. I asked about water he rudely said "the kitchen is closed, bottled water is $2." I paid for the girls water and announced over the mic that the facility will not serve water and I apologized for any inconvenience and I would pay for anyones water if they would like some. A couple people approached me and asked for some. When I went back to pay for it I suggested to George that he write that in the contract because some people come without money assuming water is usually free. He was extremely rude and sarcastic referring to me as a person with ...read more

We celebrated my son's 18th bday on Friday May20 and though our guests raved about the beautiful appearance and the delicious food. They had no idea the hell we had to deal with from the owner and staff. They were so kind and accommodating until they got our payment in full. 3 days before our event they told us we could set-up/decorate the day before from 2pm-7pm and after 10am the day of. My son went for a couple of hours the day of and we all returned at 4pm with the DJ and photographer. Our event started at 6:30pm and they kicked us out at 5pm. When i questioned it the owner George said it stated in our contract that we only had 2 hours to decorate and we had already exceeded that. I reviewed my contract and that was not stated anywhere and suddenly George was nowhere to be found. They wouldn't even let us use the restroom to change our clothes. My entire family of 8 walked across the street where they graciously accommodated us and told us this happens all the time. (see next post) ...read more

Tough Times

Hi everyone, I am here to help. Last week I received notice that 30 to 40 percent of all civil cases are employment related claims. By the end of the year that number will surpass 50 percent. Why, you ask? Well, within the past 2 weeks I also received notice that numerous employers are receiving lawsuits from former employees for many reasons. The reasons could be as minor as not compensating for not taking a meal break and as serious as sexual harassment. Employers may pay as little as $15,000 for a claim which most likely it could have been avoided. It doesn't matter how many employees you have, it only takes ONE employee to make a claim. At this moment, I am frustrated because this isn't the time for employers to put their heads in the sand and not ask for help but also don't wait till something happens. This is a serious matter and people should know about it.   An employer can not stop an employee for making a claim. However, we can disprove their claim by maintaining accurate documents. If you believe you have a situation  that you don't know how to handle or you want to be proactive, just give me a call.  www.kebbusinessconsultants.com   ...read more

Human Resource Management Service

You have employees calling in sick, reporting to work late, not being productive. First instinct as an employer, is to notify the employee that their employment service will no longer be needed effective immediately. Did you know that he would be awarded unemployment benefits if a claim has been made. Why, because most likely the employee was not terminated properly and there was a lack of proper documentation. Did you know that this occurs within 90% of all companies. Did you also know that properly terminating employees can avoid unnecessary unemployment claims. How, you can ask? Let me ask you this, would you hire a bookkeeper or cpa to handle your accounting and taxes, or would you do it yourself. Wouldn't it be better to hire a human resource specialist and save money, or would you rather do it yourself which can be more costly. All it takes is just one employee to create problems. Don't let that happen to you, call today for a free consultation. (562) 945-7836 ...read more

Holidays

Since Memorial holiday just past, I will be getting a lot of questions regarding overtime and holiday pay. The first thing I tell my clients' employees is that in order to qualify for authorized overtime you must work over 8 hours per day and over 40 hours per week. "But I worked on Saturday and Saturday is always overtime." That is false, since Monday was a holiday and you didn't complete a 40 hour workweek prior to Saturday then Saturday hours would be considered regular hours. As I tell all my clients, don't worry about the details, let the Human Resource Specialist worry about the details.  Hi everyone, my name is Karen Bajanov, I am the Human Resource Specialist. The scenerio I described above occurs in all businesses no matter what size of a company you operate. If you have employees then this question will be asked. If you find yourself in that situation or any employee related situation, don't assume contact me, Karen Bajanov, the Human Resource Specialist.  Till my next blog...I will talk to you soon.  ...read more
