My grandson has been attending Kumon center for 18 months. He has always been in a Special Day class at school. Now entering the 6th grade, he was tested in both math and reading. We were surprised at the wonderful results and his teacher was very impressed. He has moved up six levels in his reading scores and is at the top of his class in math. Because of the support and encouragement at Kumon and at home, my grandson has a new and enthusiastic attitude toward school and learning in general. Kumon has instilled a state of confidence and self-esteem that we have never seen before. Now, 12 years old, he has set a goal of becoming a teacher and is tutoring another classmate in math. Mrs. Poonam the director at Kumon has a deep concern for each child that enters the doors of her center and has always been available when our family had any questions or concerns. I would not bother sending my kids here. Waste of time, money, and poor ethics. The owner, Poonam, insists on a contractual agreement for 6 months without even a trial period insisting that it is the company making her do this and that it takes at least that long to see a child's progress. Poppycock! My kids did no better in school after spending over a year at this facility. They start your child off very low and make them do monotonous and uninteresting packets that lead the child to frustration and boredom. Arguments were a regular occurrence over Kumon work. There is no tutoring allowed and I think a tutor would have been much more helpful. When I tried to pull my children out of the program the owner insisted on a 30 day notice that was not part of the contractual agreement. I have wasted over 5000.00 here.
