Solve Your “Data Everywhere” Problem with Solix Big Data Suite

Let’s face it--you’ve got data all over the place.  Virtually everybody does.  Every application, and any data archived from it, typically sit in a silo where very limited value is derived from it.  You can do so much better, and we’d like to show you.   Solix Technologies, the industry leader in Enterprise Data Management solutions, is expert in providing Data Archiving and Applications Retirement over many years.  One of the most exciting developments ever is that we now enable an Enterprise Archiving to Big Data/Apache Hadoop strategy.  Using Hadoop, virtually all data types--Structured Data + Unstructured Data + Semi-Structured Data—from many systems can be kept in single, common repository.    There are lots of benefits: ·         Eliminating the silos of data scattered across the enterprise. ·         Everything in the Big Data repository is searchable with a simple, full-text search--just like you do a browser search today. ·         Decommissioning Legacy Applications keeps the data accessible, but can save you millions when you turn the system off. ·         Big Data’s Open-source technology and commodity hardware offer lower costs-of-ownership and are far more scalable.    Simply reply to this message and leave your email address, and we’ll connect with you right away to tell you more.  We’ll share how you can radically change the cost, accessibility, and value of your data through an Enterprise Archiving strategy with the Solix Big Data Suite.   Please click the link to know more- http://www.solix.com/products/solix-big-data-suite/ ...read more

Database archiving has emerged as an Information Life Cycle Management (ILM) best practice to meet data growth challenges. Increase performance, reduce costs and achieve compliance goals Application performance decays when core systems are forced to process too much data. Solix EDMS Database Archiving moves less frequently accessed data from production databases to optimize application performance. Yet, business users still maintain universal access to all archived data. Watts are (VA) volt amperes, and convert to amperes.

Watts are amps.;why the circuit breaker may be tripping.by Alan Story on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:39am You can understand this, but you need to read this little bit of information first. Name Plate Data;Appliances, instruments, equipment, etc. have Name Plates or other printed descriptions of their power consumption also know as the load being added to the circuit. There will be nominal values for voltage, watts or (amperes aka amps. which are watts expressed differently), and other values and information.Your power source voltage will vary depending on variables like how far you are from the local power source transformer and how much load you and all other users on the local transformer are using which will change or fluctuate and follow a trend for your areas users through out each day. So using your homes power source in the following example and knowing typically that your voltage should be somewhere from 110 volts to 125 volts per line and it fluctuates depending on what capacity is being consumed through the transformer.Receptacles typically are labeled (125 volts max.) and (250 volts max.).Most homes today have two 120 volt power lines where each line is distributed in 15 and 20 ampere circuits for duplex receptacle and lighting outlets. The two power lines are used together to provide a 240 volt power source for some appliances you may have like; Range, Dryer, Air Conditioner, etc.For one power line or single phase 120 volts calculations we use a nominal value of 120 volts. For two power lines or single phase 220 volts calculations we may use nominal values of 220, 230, or 240 volts depending on the Name Plate.Example converting watts to amperes:When the value is expressed in watts and you want to know amperes.Consider a 100 watt light bulb. Divide the watts by the voltage. 100w / 120v = 0.833333 amperes or amps. of load at 120 volts of power. Now, if your duplex receptacle outlets are on a 20 ampere circuit, typically the circuit will trip with-in a + or - 5% value of the circuit breaker amperage value..05 X 20 = 1 ampere. So the circuit breaker could trip anywhere between 19 and 21 amperes. A kitchen typically has a microwave at 12.5 amperes or more, a refrigerator that fluctuates between 6 and 10 amperes, a toaster about 10 amperes, a coffee maker about 10 amperes, and other appliances; so you can add up some of these and understand why the circuit breaker trips when the wrong combination of appliance loads are on at the same time. Some appliances installation instructions and Name Plates require a dedicated Specialty Appliance circuit that has nothing else plugged into or tapped off of it. National Electrical Codeis the law and says that a circuit may not use more than 80% of the circuit breaker value if a load is continuous for three hours or more. NEC is minimum requirements for safety..08 X 20 = 16 amperes. Load managementcan happen on purpose, but usually happens by accident. People sometimes learn that they can't plug in so may things on a circuit at the same time even if they didn't do the math. People either learn to manage loads on their existing circuits or install Specialty Circuits to allow them to keep additional loads plugged in. ...read more

Oakland Art of Home Show welcomes Cora Sue Anthony, August 6-7, 2011

"Do what you can, right where you live." That is Cora Sue Anthony's motto, and it seems to be paying off for the new host of HGTV's Real Estate Intervention.   A bay area native, Cora Sue graduated from Berkeley High and went on to study drama at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.  Her love of beauty began as early as age 5, where little "Sue Sue" would pick flowers from her neighborhood, placing them next to her bedside to brighten up her world. While at Spelman College, she would design the set for school plays. Her experience also includes staging backyard carnivals for Jerry Lewis telethons and working in Atlanta theatres as a stage hand. She's even tried her hand at makeovers - surprising her next door neighbor who was hospitalized during a breast cancer bout.  There is a distinction between staging and designing, and Cora Sue is quick to admit that her expertise is and has always been staging.   It's no surprise that she met her husband, accountant Lewis Anthony, while they were both working at Black Repertory Theatre, in Berkeley, CA. After the birth of her children, Lauren and Daniel, Cora thought she had turned in her career. But it's impossible to quiet a creative mind!  During her brief stay at home Mom gig, Anthony would design stages for the kids plays. When her baby started elementary school in Oakland Public Schools, Anthony Staging was launched. She was teaching set design and building to elementary school students in addition to hosting holiday parties at her own home, which was lavishly decked out for the holidays. Another parent in the community, a well known stager, took notice of her hobby, and took Cora Sue under her wing. It was here that she learned more about the psychology of staging a home for sale and her business has been booming ever since. She has extensive experience staging for the top agents at every conceivable brokerage in the Oakland area.   Cora Sue also has a passion for Oakland's aspiring youth, most recently working with students at East Oakland Youth Development Center, Young Voice Mission and Claremont Middle School, where she teaches them the fine art of flower arranging. She exposes these students to new experiences: one group does weekly floral arrangements at a local real estate office and another group had the exciting opportunity to travel to Washington, DC. Most recently, she bought a group of students to the set of Real Estate Intervention to do floral arrangements.  Her energy is abundant and her enthusiasm for staging is contagious. Cora Sue Anthony, Stager Extraordinaire. ...read more

South Bay Home Show adds creative punch to support their vendors

The South Bay Home&Garden Show held two to three times a year at the Santa Clara Convention Center has been in operation for over 31 years. We feature the best Bay Area home remodeling specialists that offer services to restore, remodel, redesign and renovate your home. Just some of the local companies that we feature specialize in Windows, Doors, Kitchens, Baths, Solar, HVAC, painting, plumbing, electrical, flooring and roofing. We also have a nice marketplace with retail and Lifestyle goods at outstanding prices and we feature Wine tasting on Saturdays and Sundays. Recently "other" Home Show producers have appeared in the Bay Area. While competition is always welcomed these "others" have only managed to clutter up the marketplace and distract attendee attention with offers of Million Dollar give-aways that may or may not exist and  Free admissions that invite non quality browsers. What they have forgotten to do is deliver the true quality and content of a real home show that both the attendee expects and the construction trade home service exhibitor represents. Nor Cal Events is determined to attract qualified homeowners who pay to attend our events because they have specific home improvement needs and know where to go to find these quality home improvement specialist.  At our events. This is why Nor Cal Events that produces the upcoming January 21-23, 2011 South Bay Home Shows, www.southbayhomeshow.com and the newer Oakland Art of Home Show March 18-20, 2011  will be stepping it up with more fulfilling content, even better seminars and more artistic attractive marketing.  We intend to support the good exhibitors at our shows and continue to showcase our events as the true premium Home Shows in the marketplace.
