4 RV Maintenance Tips to Stay Safe On Road

from the factory. Seal all areas that may pose a potential for leakage. Identifying leakages in the interior is a good step in containing the damage.  Proper maintenance of your RV will assure you a great gateway. Servicing it and practicing good maintenance habits will not only keep you safe on the road but give your RV a longer life. Recreation vehicles (RV) are automobiles whose primary function is to provide leisure activities like vacations and camping.Having one is a great personal statement and an investment that needs proper maintenance as well as RV insurance. Before taking that carefully thought out trip in your recreational vehicle, it is important to have it in excellent condition for your safety and that of other road users. The paramount way to keep your auto insurance cost affordable is to avoid claims against the policy. San Diego Auto Insuranceshare some RV maintenance tips that will keep you safe on the road. 1. Check the engine An RV engine can last longer than the other components in the vehicle. Its longevity is however dictated by the maintenance. Proper maintenance of the engine involves changing the filters and oil often. Dirty fuels are the primary cause of clogged and dysfunctional engines which can lead to irreversible damage and reduction of the lifespan. Air filters need to be changed to allow the vehicle to breathe well. The cooling system should also be checked to avoid overheating which wears out the vital parts of the engine. 2. Check the electrical system Your vehicle’s power system needs to be in a proper working condition. RVs are built to provide the comfort that you would have in your home like the fridge, ACs, and the coolers. An electrician should check to ensure the wiring system is okay for optimum use. 3. Have a look at your batteries Nothing can destroy a much anticipated trip than waking up to your RV not cranking up. The cause could be the battery. The best thing to do is to understand how the cells work. Batteries used in RVs are lead acid made of lead and lead oxide immersed in an electrolyte and produces 12.6 volts. These cells function by storing electricity. Undercharging or overcharging are the main causes of battery damage. Undercharging results in the hardening of the plates into crystals. This effect cannot be reversed, thus killing the cells. Overcharging, on the other hand, causes severe plate corrosion which is equally irreversible. 4. Check the roof The roof of your RV could easily be neglected. Cleaning it frequently and checking for any significant dents is advised. The sealants around all the seams and openings need to be thoroughly tested, as early detection of any flaws will ensure that appropriate repairs are done in time to prevent greater damage. ...read more

Fuel Efficient Sports Cars

Some drivers crave true sports car excitement but also will not buy big V8-powered gas guzzler as it goes against their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and expenditure of the natural resources around them. Here are three top models available today that combine earth-friendly motoring with true world-class sports car performance. Each accomplishes this in a different way. BMW i8 BMW's new i8 hybrid-electric sports car is a technological powerhouse, combining a fuel-efficient turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine based on BMW motorcycle technology with powerful brushless permanent-magnet electric motors for 357 peak horsepower and 420 lb-ft. Of torque. The i8 can travel around 15 miles on electric power alone at highway speeds and takes just 2.5 hours to charge to full capacity using standard Level II high-powered electric car charging. Zero to 60 mph comes in just 4.2 seconds, around the same time as BMW's M3 sports sedan, and thanks to a lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced plastic body with a high-strength alloy safety cage, the i8 is both maneuverable and highly fun to drive. Tesla Model S P90D Since its first electric car model, the Tesla Roadster that was based on a chassis on loan from Lotus, Tesla Motors has been turning out some exciting and refined fully electric sporty cars as the industry's top seller in the EV field. Now, the Silicon Valley, the California-based automaker has pulled out all the stops in creating a true all-electric monster on wheels, the P90D all-wheel-drive super sports sedan. With enough torque on tap available from zero rpm to accelerate toe-to-toe with the fastest sports car models from Ferrari and McLaren, the P90D can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, still enjoying a range of nearly 300 miles before needing a recharge thanks to its upgraded 90 kW/h battery pack. With Tesla's ever-expanding network of Supercharger quick-charge stations that dot highways across America and the world, owners can travel from California to New York without ever spending a dime on gasoline... while getting there in record time. Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ You won't find any uber-expensive turbocharging or electric assist technology here, as Scion's FR-S sports car and the Subaru BRZ that shares its platform and engine are about as old-school as you can get in today's performance car world. With just 200 horsepower from a highly efficient horizontally opposed four-cylinder Boxer engine designed by Subaru with a port and direct dual fuel injection system from Scion's parent company Toyota, the FR-S and BRZ manage good performance thanks mostly to their extremely light weight, tipping the scales at barely over 2,300 pounds. Fuel efficiency rings in at 25 city and 34 highway mpg, excellent numbers in the compact sports coupe world and better still considering these vehicles can be had for around $25,000 if you do not go crazy on the option sheet.   Are you looking for Auto insurance company in San Diego Feel free to visitAmerican TriStar Auto Insurnace ...read more
