Today one of "Bud's" drivers showered East HWY 80 just before San Pablo Dam Road with 3/4 - 1 inch gravel rocks when driving over a dip in the freeway. My week old car was pelted with probably 24-36 rocks, cracking the windshield in at least 6 places. The headlight and hood were also damaged. I managed to get in front of the truck and put my hazard lights on and the driver pulled over. The driver insisted that he doesnt haul rock material, there is no rock. He also said that his boss says its "road hazard" so oh well. We then look under the trailer and find more rocks tucked underneath. I then told the driver that he needs to remove the hazard before he can continue on the road, he said no and he was leaving. I then called CHP and they came, forcing him to clean the rocks. The owner Bud, insists that the rocks didnt come from his truck and that he isnt responsible for rocks on the roadway. I submit that not only did the rocks come from his truck but now they are on the roadway and will certainly damage more vehicles. I was the only one who stopped, I can just guess that there were many more vehicles damaged from this today, I urge anyone that was on HWY 80 East at about 1:20 pm around San Pablo Dam Road exit that got damaged windshield or something else that could be related to contact your insurance. I have pictures, police report, proof that they were there and caused damage. Bud, you say youve been in this business for 40 years and only once paid for a windshield. Hopefully this opens your eyes to your practices and not only the safety but the damage your vehicles/drivers do. You also said you are giving me the benefit of the doubt, no sir, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt and was being polite enough to call and try to work this out with you. This is not my fault and is all your fault. I dont think you intentionally caused the damage but ignorance doesnt excuse the damage and I (nor my insurance) sure shouldnt have to pay for your ignorance and negligence. I may revise the review if you revise how you handle this. I may go on a mission to inform everyone of my experience with you elsewhere. My vehicle will be repaired whether you step up and do the right thing or my insurance takes care of it. But this is your opportunity to do the right thing, will you take it?
