I am writing this to warn anyone who is considering hiring Raul Roybal for a handyman job. Raul was hired to repaint our kitchen cabinets, which he said he would do in 4 days. This was at the end of October. We finally asked him to leave on December 15th, after him not completing the job and leaving our kitchen a COMPLETE mess. Here is a list of issues we faced: 1) He did not match the paint on the cabinets, so all cabinets have different shades 2) He drilled holes in the wrong places and our cabinets don't close properly. The contractors we have met with since have said we need to get brand new cabinets, because of his horrible job. 3) He often did not show up on time, or at all. Ask the inspector how long he has been performing inspections, if you will receive a detailed written report and what type of certifications he has. Find out what locations will be covered in the home inspection and how long the process will take. Standard times for single-family home inspections are at least two to three hours, depending on the size of the home. Inquire about errors and omissions insurance. This type of insurance is for claims against the inspector if he misses something during the homes review.PROFESSIONAL INSPECTIONFollow the inspector during the inspection and ask any questions you have. Take notes during the walk-through, as the inspector will also point out any possible future problems to you. All of the areas you looked at in your personal inspection should be reviewed by the professional inspector. She will also check the heating and cooling systems for leaks and signs of damage, test outlets and electrical systems, and evaluate the firmness and level of the floors in the home.
