McDonald's

1.0

By MalibuMcds at Citysearch

NOT "Loving it" Malibu is one of the most popular stretches of Americana on scenic highway 1. It is one of those All American Drives. On this road there ideally is lots of Americana, namely McDonalds. But something interesting happens when you come to this McDonalds. You are not greeted. No Hello. No Good morning. More of a Grumble. Its rather ironic, since Malibu is not really known for hustle or bustle, especially on this McDonalds steps away from the beach. So what? It annoys me that McDonalds brand has erroded from "Good Morning, Welcome to McDonalds, How May I Help You", to a hesitant unfriendly grumble. McDonalds: You can do better than this. On Highway 1 Americana, one of the most famous stretchs of road, this piece of Americana is not very American, not very firendly, and downright annoying. Annoying? Yeah. Annoying. And should you enter inside, the order is asked for in Spanish. AND YES: When your order is ready, you order is called - IN SPANISH - So if you dont speak spanish you just stand there looking around wondering why your order hasnt been called. 5 minutes pass, 10 minutes pass and you look around and wonder what is going on. You wonder why everyone is speaking spanish and all the orders are yelled out in Spanish. Yes this is California, a few hundred miles from Mexico. But just like you expect to be greeted in Spanish in Mexico, you expect to be greeted in Engliish in the US (And yes, your order given in English). Its just not worth the hassle. Its just lunch. I'll take my business elsewhere. May I respectfully request that McDonalds change its golden arches to the Mexican flag tones of green. Lower your expectations about McDonalds meeting Americana needs for American Burger & Fries with courtesy. Not on Malibu Highway 1. McDonalds is a cherished American cultural experience - well it was - once upon a time. ...read more
