Here is a summary of my BBB complaint against them. In general, do yourself a favor and stay away, no matter how nice and accommodating they may seem at first. I should probably have filed a complaint with Berkeley rent control, but it's far past the time for that and I simply don't want to deal with the scum that work at this company any more. Without further ado: My main problems with North Berkeley Properties: 1. They are frequent liars - lied to us about the fact that there was lead paint in the apartment and lied that they had good comments with the BBB (the are not listed), among other lies that I can't recall. 2. Most of the employees I have had contact with are very rude. 3. The apartment is in poor condition and they took way too long to fix things (or sometimes didn't come at all). The people who work in the office are as kinda as can be prior to you actually getting one of the units. Once you move in, you better hope nothing goes wrong, b/c having stuff fixed will not happen. The maintenance people came into our place while we were there, even though we signed off that nobody would enter our unit without 24 hour notice. I can go on and on about them, but will just warn people to talk to tenants in a building you are considering renting from NBP. ...read more
