Here is a summary of my BBB complaint against them. In general, do yourself a favor and stay away, no matter how nice and accommodating they may seem at first. I should probably have filed a complaint with Berkeley rent control, but it's far past the time for that and I simply don't want to deal with the scum that work at this company any more. Without further ado: My main problems with North Berkeley Properties: 1. They are frequent liars - lied to us about the fact that there was lead paint in the apartment and lied that they had good comments with the BBB (the are not listed), among other lies that I can't recall. 2. Most of the employees I have had contact with are very rude. 3. The apartment is in poor condition and they took way too long to fix things (or sometimes didn't come at all). It's very hard trying to reach them by phone, so to get anything from them requires showing up in person and nagging them until it's done. ...read more

I cannot possibly speak scathingly enough about this wretched company because I'm afraid any words I have to use against AP Management will still fall tragically short of encompassing the sheer idiocy that dominates this company and their incompetent employees. Beware of Leiah (sp?), the receptionist on a major power trip. I don't know how much everyone gets paid to take a 2 (often 2 1/2) hour lunch break every day and then NOT do their jobs, but let me tell you-- minimum wage would even be too much. Unfortunately L's the only person who you'll be talking to at this place except for some other guy who shows the apartments. He seems nice, but after his pretty face sells you the apartment you won't be seeing much of him later, especially if it's to answer important questions. It's unfortunate that Berkeley rental companies can get away with almost criminal practices when the housing market is always so hot. Watch out for North Berk. Properties: SAME COMPANY. Google, Yelp, Yahoo and you will get reviews from this horrific managment company. Yes, Leila is downright nasty and her supervisor is never in. Construction, filth, over priced rents strickly taking advantage of UC Students and their Families. Major building reconstruction that is noisy throughout the day. This affects pipes so you don't get water and interferes with cable services. The best day was when my lease was up. AP Managment is like a slum lord overcharging for a building that does not conform with earthquake standards. They will screw with your security deposit. Report them to the UC Berkeley Housing Department and let them know not to recommend AP Management or at least be wary if you do. ...read more
