How to practice guitar

A lot of people think practicing for 8 hours a day is the only way to improve. While this certainly helps its a better idea to practice a few hours a day working on specific projects such as, learning a new song or guitar solo, recording and writing your original songs. Its always more productive to have a specific goal in mind each time you practice and fulfill that goal each day. ...read more

Top 16 Wedding Reception Trends

With 2010 come and gone, what are the new trends we can look forward to. With help from Arizona Weddings magazine, below are the hotest trends. 1. Color - Black and dark colors are in! Accents to whites and lighter colors mesh beautifully with the darker overlay.  2. Centerpieces - Florists are getting creative on these. Nothing dresses up a table better than a beautiful centerpiece. Log-on to www.ceentertainment.com/vendors for a good list of florists.  3. Texture - Crushed satins seem to be THE most popular now. Talk to your planner about ideas.  4. Martini's galore! - More and more weddings are bringing these perfect cocktails to their wedding bars. Ice sculpture Martini bars are the coolest trend.  5. Lights - Uplighting, Monograms, pin spots and rope lighting are really in. I now offer all of these options to help transform the wedding into a paradise.  6. Cakes - With the recent boom of cup cake wars or cake wars on TV, Bakeries are now getting creative. Check out my vendors page for perfect bakeries.  7. Wine - Out with Champagne and in with Wine. From toasts to dinner bottles, wine is the in thing. I've seen couples even create personalized labels! See Celebrations Ink on my vendors page for this.  8. Explore the food - Passed appetizers are so yesterday. Try buffet stations with different foods for your guests to try. The Chefs love this and so do guests!  9. Desert Stations -This can be simple caddies for guests to scoop up to full out cakes and cookies. Give your guests the ability to splurge.  10. Dinner options - Plated or Buffet? How about family style. This is the newest trend that is stirring up a frenzy.  11. Ambience - I've seen planners create a Lounge type atmosphere for guests to relax and talk. Can be simple or all out WOW!  12. Personal touch - From specialty drinks named after Bride&Groom; to bringing in local flavor, add that personal idea of the area or you.  13. Entertaining options - Flipbooks, Photobooths, even Bridal trivia had jumped on the scene to entertain guests during down times.  14. Infused drinks - Alcohols mixed with your favorite spritzers or colors add the extra touch.  15. Cafe olay - From an elaborate espresso coffee station to a Hot Chocolate bar, why not?  16. Midnight snack - After a long night of dancing bring out the finger foods for the guests to enjoy. As you can see there are a lot of trends. Choose the ones that best fit. Be creative and have fun! ...read more

The DJ really isn't that important

Every once in a while I will get this question (at a bridal fair). And I don't blame people for saying it. All the stories I've heard from clients during the initial visit would make anyone say they don't want to risk a DJ ruining their wedding. But instead of axing the DJ all together, what about doing more research. Every wedding needs entertainment. Instead of just a DJ, why not look for someone that is a professional Emcee as well. Or, what I call a new breed, a Director of Entertainment.Let's digress back and keep that topic question in mind. Now I ask you this, "What is most important for you (or your main goal) about your wedding?" Please don't say each other. That's a given. Your guests comfort and the ability to have fun should be the main goal no matter what! Sorry to say people, it's not always about you. When I talked to Deb McCoy (Oprah's wedding consultant) she said this very thing. "This is the bride and grooms first party they are hosting as a couple. With any party you need to make your guests comfortable and having fun".I ask you this, What vendor would be the most responsible for making this happen? The entertainment. More importantly the Director of Entertainment DJ/MC fits all roles. Bands and DJ's can only do a fraction. It is the Director, Emcee AND DJ that will give it the Celebration status.Maybe you are still skeptical. You say, "The food and decor is the most important." Ok. Great! I love food and a good scenery is great as well. I'm going to take you to a wedding where I was not that important..or so they thought. They spent thousands of dollars on the decor, food, cake, etc. They hired a Jazz Band as their main entertainment. They said they only needed me to play between the bands breaks, nothing else. No announcements, no interaction and no direction. The guests came drank a few and it was time to eat, but wait who was going to get them seated or dismiss them to the buffet? The bride came up and asked if I could help. I said I would be happy too. The Jazz band, all the while, were playing jazzy tunes and it was nice. I was in charge of the 1st dance and all the other intangibles. Once they were done the band would start things off. NO ONE was on the dance floor. They played a half our set with very few people dancing. The bride was worried, she approached me once again and asked if I could get people dancing. I simple said of course! Because I knew this was elegant, I used an elegant way to get them on the dance floor. For 15 minutes( I was playing) the dance floor was packed. When it was time for the band to kick back in I told them I would do a transition jazz song and they should keep that tempo up to keep the guests dancing. It worked for the first few songs they played then...nothing. By the time I kicked back in again, half of the guests left. The band wasn't entertainment. They were background music. I could play songs guests could dance too, have fun too. I was allowd to finally interact. It was a hit when I did.The point is without Direction, a great Emcee and entertainment your wedding celebration becomes forgettable or just a plain ole party that people will gauge what not to do at a wedding. What you really want is people to say that was the best time they had ever had. They will thank you and congratulate you. They gave you a gift or money and maybe even paid a baby sitter to CELEBRATE with you. Do you really want to say the DJ is not really that important? Of course you don't.Do your research or call me I would love to help, whether I'm doing your wedding or not. I always here for customers and clients. Now go have the best wedding ever! ...read more
