Over the past 1 1/2 years that I have taken watercolor lessons from Mary, Miera Designs, I have so enjoyed the learning process in the classes where it is fun to paint and learn together. I started classes as a beginner and even though I work on more advanced paintings now, she is always presenting new techniques to add to and build on ones we have already learned. Mary is very thorough in her teaching methods. From beginners to advanced, she explains the painting process to fit each student. She demonstrates different watercolor techniques and gears each lesson to a specific technique with pictures to practice painting. Her explanations on how the paint and water moves,using different brush strokes, combining colors, and paper usage are easy to follow and practice. Her patience and understanding of each student’s needs is outstanding, working with each student at their level of experience. She is knowledgeable concerning the many different styles of watercolor painting and helps students ‘find their style’. In the advanced classes, she helps students apply the many techniques to their paintings to produce beautiful pictures. I've been taking beginning watercolor classes from Mary, Miera Designs, for two months and it has been the most rewarding class I have ever taken!! I leave each class learning new methods, ideas, and a completed project to take home. Mary observes what style I'm leaning toward (I.e. Floral, landscape, abstract) and always introduces new options. She is great with colors and mixing colors. I'm learning so much, having fun, and plan on continuing my lessons for quite a while! Thank you, Mary! ...read more
