watercolor artist and great teacher

Over the past 1 1/2 years that I have taken watercolor lessons from Mary, Miera Designs, I have so enjoyed the learning process in the classes where it is fun to paint and learn together. I started classes as a beginner and even though I work on more advanced paintings now, she is always presenting new techniques to add to and build on ones we have already learned. Mary is very thorough in her teaching methods. From beginners to advanced, she explains the painting process to fit each student. She demonstrates different watercolor techniques and gears each lesson to a specific technique with pictures to practice painting. Her explanations on how the paint and water moves,using different brush strokes, combining colors, and paper usage are easy to follow and practice. Her patience and understanding of each student’s needs is outstanding, working with each student at their level of experience. She is knowledgeable concerning the many different styles of watercolor painting and helps students ‘find their style’. In the advanced classes, she helps students apply the many techniques to their paintings to produce beautiful pictures. Her past experience of working in schools has given her a wonderful ability to help students learn to enjoy the wonderful world of watercolor painting.
