We have been with ABC Insurance over 5 years. We came for the lower prices but are glad we stayed. Recently, we had a claim when someone vandolized our cars and slashed all the tires. Wehn Discount Tire Shop would not release the vehicles until the big insurance company check arrived (maybe 4 or 5 days later!), Steve Baquet the owner of ABC stepped up to authorize payment to the Tire company so we could get our cars immediately. Did you know that if you are in a car accident and do not have enough insurance, the injured party can and will put a judgment against you enforced by MVD? This means that they will suspend your license AND ability to register your vehicle until the judgement is satisfied. The law: A.R.S. 28-4071 Arizona minimum limits of insurance are $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident for bodily injury and $10,000 for property damage. This means that your insurance will ONLY pay this amount. If you are not able to pay for the losses above these amounts, you will be burdened with a judgement. Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 28-4071, if you do not pay this judgement in 60 days, the Department of Motor Vehicle will be notified and your license and registration WILL be suspended. Consider This: You drive a 1998 Ford F150. You only carry liability insurance and the cheapest rates, because after all, the truck isn't worth much and you have never been in an accident. You are waiting to turn left and the light turns yellow. You proceed into your turn and another driver, a mother with two noisy and distracting children in the back seat is late for t-ball practice and decides to accelerate through the yellow light. You collide. Fortunately no one is hurt. After the police investigation, they determine the accident was your fault as there was no proof the other driver ran a red or yellow light. The other drivers 2010 Lexus RX 350 is a total loss. (I use this vehicle as an example because you cannot drive 3 blocks without seeing one.) Your insurance will pay out $10,000 for the other driver's vehicle. The value of the vehicle is around $35,000. The other $25,000 will most likely be paid by the other driver's own insurance company, who will in turn, file a judgement against you for the $25,000. According to this law, you have 60 days to pay this judgement. Non-payment results in suspended license and registration of all vehicles. Your truck was only slightly damaged, however until you satisfy the judgement, you are not only unlicensed, ALL the vehicles you have registered in your name are now also suspended. Solution: For a few bucks more each month, your could have raised those minimum limits to $50,000 or even $100,000. Significantly cheaper than the $25,000 you would be on the hook for.
