Spring Is Here And So Are The Bees
Most think honey bees are no where to be found in seasons other than summer but that's further from the truth. Honey bees are always around. Bees are not very active in cold or windy weather. They do however love the warmth and therefore they are more apparent. Something to be aware of is that the end of March is the beginning of Spring and so the honey bee start there routine. Swarms are going to be noticed in the next month or two in high numbers. Swarms even though they look and seem to be dangerous they are not. Protection in the wild is a large part of why they travel in so many numbers as well as they work they need to do to survive. Building a hive is an amazing talent as well as beauty. Swarm travel in numbers reaching 30.000 and sometimes more. So if you happem to be lucky or unlucky this colony can assemble a hive in days. Hives can reach up to 100's of pounds in only a few months to a year depending on the numbers. The best thing to do if a swarm is seen on a tree or bush is to pay attention to the activity and be cautious if it's close to a structure. Although swarms usually depart in a few days its certainly not unsual they find there way into your home. In our opinion it's better to have a swarm remove right away for under a $100 dollars in most cases than have to have a structural removal done which could cost as much as $1100 dollars. If you need any questions or a FREE inspection please don't hesitate to give us a call for an appointment. All Bee Management 800 516-1603 ...read more
