This is a perfect project for a child to make when wanting to give a gift to a grandparent or sibling.
Materials Needed:
- 2 yards of fleece in the desired color or print of your liking
- 2 yards of a coordinating piece of fleece
- Straight pins
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Trim the edges of each piece of fleece to get rid of any bad or rolled edging before making the blanket.
- Spread one piece of the fleece, design or print side facing down, on the floor.
- Layer the other piece of fleece on top of it, print or design side facing up.
- Pin the two pieces together using the straight pins. Make sure all of the ends line up. You may have to trim the ends in order to get them straight and even.
- Cut the corners out first. Each corner should have a square cut out of them. The square should be as big as the cut size of your fringes. Three inches is usually a good size.
- Make the fringes. Start at one corner and cut fringes through both layers of fleece going all the way from one corner to the other. The fringes should be approximately 3 inches long and 1-½ inches wide.
- Go back and tie the fringes together once the fringes are cut on one side. Be sure to tie them in a knot so that they will not come undone.
- Repeat this process for the other three sides.
