Kids' Judo News
Current Session News: The juniors are finishing up session two in a couple weeks. They are all returning students this session and progressing to some new and interesting techniques. They are an enthusiastic and energetic group who definitely keep class exciting. Particularly when they all tackle the teacher at once! The kids are thrilled that Erin, soon to be 15, has returned from the adult jujutsu class to help teach. Erin is going to be a great instructor in her own right some day, she has a great way of communicating with the kids. She has been training since she was four and easily relates to the struggles of our younger and smaller students. Summer Break and Session III Following the end of this session, just before Memorial Day weekend, The kids will be taking their usual summer break to spend time with family and friends. They will have the month of June to run wild and free before returning for Session III on July 7th. We may schedule a weekend 'Judo camp' in there somewhere, if we have enough interest. Dojo News May 2008
On the Grow Like all dojo, our attendance and student population tends to grow and fade on a regular basis. Last fall we added a large number of people and, as usual, we saw the number slowly decline after the first of the year. The last two months have shown us back on the rise. Several inactive students have returned to training and we have added some new people to the list. To make things even better, our regular students are attending more classes and training more outside of class. New Rank Rank is not a big deal in Shindokan dojo. Most students in our group are not really rank conscious or driven to attain rank. However, we have had several promotions since last fall. The following people worked extremely hard for their rank: Elizabeth Fisher - sankyu; Erin Hamerdinger - rokkyu; Amber Fabacher & Greg Konesky - 7th kyu; Kip Knight, Ray Marshall, & Ken Fabacher -8 kyu. An extra pat on the back to Erin who skipped 7th kyu to test for sixth kyu. She had an outstanding testing and became the youngest of theupper rank cadre. Discounts for Deshi Need a way to save or earn some money? Bring a friend to the dojo. For every person you refer to the dojo, who signs up, you get a $15 credit. Your credit can be applied to dues, uniforms, equipment, testing fees, or any dojo related expense. (Credits are not good for the Ryu Clinic.) We will be happy to provide you with brochures, flyers, business cards, or free class cards to help with your recruiting. We also strive to be family friendly. Discounts are also available for family members. Get $10 off the second person's dues every month and $20 off a third person. Our younger Judo students with a parent in the adult class get $10 off each judo session too. Remember the more students we having, the easier it is for us to add new classes and class times. The additional people are uke for your testing and partners when you need someone to train with ...read more
