This company is by far the worst company I have ever rented from. Starting with the incompetent property manager who has no regard for any of her tenants. She doesn't address issues and never gets back to you. The parking lot is a complete mess. The garage is not secure and on many occasions things were stolen or our property was messed with. Forget about winter and summer maintanance! Many nights there were tenants working on trucks and cars until late at night revving engines but if it wasn't that then it was the constant buzz of a food truck generator OWNED by the property manager and her convict boyfriend. I have lived at Checkmate for over 7 years and most of the tenants are long term, college students or military. It is loud standing outside because it is located on Boniface! But, inside it is cozy and well kept. Last year the landlord was gone for a while due to an illness in the family, but the staff is amazing and always helpful and friendly. The only rules that I find are broken is the parking and there is assigned parking!! This place gives a new meaning to SLUMVILLE, TENEMENT, PROJECT. it is THAT BAD. First of all they allow low income housing so while you are paying $1300-1400 for your place the person w/ the 5 kids and no job next to you is paying $100. While your paying a water bill for those 5 kids.. they pay nothing when they are on low income housing. They might seem all nice and put together when you first move in but let something break and your stuck with it. Ask them to fix it and its a whole song and dance.
