We own an Independence Park Spinell Home. Our sump pump decided to work only intermittently during the fall time rainstorms. This resulted in the water in the crawl space coming up and damaging the insulation. Turns out the sump pump and it's piping wasn't secured in place, so this fall it decided to move around and turn on only if the stars aligned just right. My first thought upon inspecting it was that a 5 year old could have done a better job on installation, and its the last device one would skimp on in a low lying area.\r\nAnyway, we had to get in and remove the insulation and the vapor barrier (and secure the pump). Those tasks were not fun, but added insult to injury was the fact that garbage and construction debris was found beneath the vapor barrier in the far side of the crawlspace. The garbage included pop cans, oil bottles, beer caps, beer bottles, scrap wood, scrap metal, and plastic sheeting. The smaller garbage filled up a 55 gallon trash bag and the larger items covered the floor of a short bed truck.\r\nLong story short, we are almost done getting things back to normal after experiencing events that shouldn't have happened in the first place. The whole incident has cost us considerable time, energy, and money. We are wiser though. We will likely move at some point and I will be sure to tell the new buyer to watch the crawl space for water like a hawk. We will never buy a Spinell Home again and I share our experience with potential home buyers and friends.
