On a cold Halloween day in Big Rapids, my family and I needed to warm up and get a bite so we stopped by Peppers Cafe and found our way to one of only a few open tables on this busy Saturday afternoon.
Boasting a sandwich board with over 60 varieties of homemade sandwiches, and a large selection of hot drinks, the worst part of the visit was just deciding what to order.
This time the food order was simple enough:4 Chicago style hot dogs(but the #36 Ham with muenster,mayo,tomato, on fresh kaiser roll was tempting). For drinks the kids had hot cocoa, my wife had a honey nut latte, and I had a hot caramel apple cider. All came with whipped cream on top and were just what our cold hands and bodies needed. But what impressed me the most, besides the owner Sharon busily chopping veggies along side her employees, was the perfection put into the latte and hot cider: measured again and again to make sure it was perfect temperature. You don't get that from the big chain restaurants.
