About Arizona Traditional Karate & Kobudo - (Shorin-Ryu)
Walk through the door of our TRADITIONAL OKINAWAN SCHOOL and feel as if you were transported to Shuri, Okinawa. Traditional Schools are unlike sport schools: our décor is Japanese. Take a look at our clock, our shomen (front wall), our kamidana (place of honor), our flower arrangements. Yes, English is spoken as it is in Okinawa, but we also add Japanese.
Zen & karate mix as they should. The ZEN philosophy is part of rebuilding yourself as a positive & respectful person. Meditation is for self-control, & the self-defense is pragmatic & devastating.
We offer training of the mind, spirit & body by teaching philosophy, SHORIN-RYU KARATE, KOBUDO, SELF-DEFENSE & SAMURAI ARTS for beginner to the most advanced master of martial arts.
As a member of a club, family, church, women’s group – check us out, we can offer your group special classes, or special rates within our formal classes.

Great dojo, great karate, great instructor
After training at other schools in east valley, none come close to this school or instructor. It is similar to schools in Okinawa and the instructor is one of the three best martial artists I've seen between Arizona and Okinawa Japan. We are all treated with respect and have a great time learning new self-defense and katas.

For many years Soke Hausel taught hundreds of students in the traditional arts of karate,kobudo(Okinawan weapons),self-defense, jujutsu, samurai arts and martial arts history while searching for gold, diamonds and colored gemstones.
