Shell, Wyoming is at the base of the Big Horn Mountains. The town was founded in the year 1886. This town has fossil shells that can be found all over and this is where the town received its name. Shell Creek is right by here. Just west of town you can see dinosaur tracks at Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite. They have wonderful hiking trails and fishing in the area. On our road trip from Seattle to Mt. Rushmore we dropped into Annies. People were enjoying their meals a few feet from where we shopped. Had to get a T-shirst and the odd coffee cup to take back as gifts. The people working in the store were friendly and helpful. Its a bit off the beaten trail, but worth the drive. This is one of the few places in the west where the best dressed meet the ranchers and true cowboys. This is a place you can hear the jingle of the spurs from the cowboy as he walks inside. When it comes to the hunting season, every hunter will find someone with a story in this warm building. The many snowmoblilers enjoy that warm cup of coffee or soup this time of year. It has good food and great service.Jim tries his best to see that the food is just right for you and that you go away happy and full. The store also has Wyoming T Shirts, some jewlrey, & western type of items.
