Holiday Inn Express Morgantown

We had made reservations for Aug 14th through August 20th and had written confirmation from the hotel. On \t\nthe second night we were in the hotel I received a call from the desk clerk saying they had sent our confirmation of reservation to an unknown 3rd party for the nights of the 18th and 19th and since he had not made this reservation they had allowed him to cancel. I explained to her we were already checked into hotel and she said reservatons had been cancelled and if we wanted these 2 nights I would need to rebook and give her my credit card number. The rate she tried to give me was $20.00 than the rate we had written conformation for and I told her that she already had our credit card info on file. She said she couldn't use that and without me regiving her our credit card info she could not guarantee a room for the 18th and 19th. At that point I asked to speak to general manager and was told he would not be in until the next morning. The following morning I went and asked to speak to him and asked if we could go into his office. He told me the desk clerk had called him after she had talked to me and he had her call me back and tell me they could use info on file. I did not receive a call back from the desk clerk because it was my cell phone and there is no record of a second call. I asked why he did not call us to reassure us everything had been taken care of and he jumped out of his chair and said we were immediately to check out of hotel and was going to call police to have us escorted out. At that point I left his office and went out and sat in the lobby. I was upset but crying to myself not making a scene. My husband stayed in his office and explained to him our 19 yr old son had died in an acident 3 weeks prior and my I was going through that trauma also. The manager then out to where I was sitting in the loby and said he was sorry for the loss of my son but I couldn't be sitting in the lobby crying and to go to my room. That was the last I heard from him. He never attempted to contact us to see if everything was OK. On Monday of this week I received a phone call on my cell phone from the manager screaming at me that I was a crazy woman, that he felt sorry for my husband, and I am never to stay at a Holiday Inn again(which won't be a problem. He also wrote on Trip Advisor I was screaming in his office because my son had died. I did not even mention to him my son had passed away because it was not we were dealing with. He is a very cruel person to include the fact my son died as part of the reason I was trying to straighten out the situation of the room. Also, to call me on my cell phone and scream at me is verbal harrasement of a customer. Something needs to done with this hotel management and their treatment of customers. ...read more
