I bought a 3 stine engagement ring at Lorraines for $885 before tax. I'm now trying to sell it and took it to another jeweler. The jeweler's jaw literally dropped when I told her what I paid and said if she had that exact ring it would sell for only $400 because the quality is so poor. The whole setting was crooked and none of the stones lined up and the stones were also dirty/foggy/grey. The jeweler also thought it was ridiculous that Lorraines charges $20 for a verbal appraisal, which really is no good, and $40 for a written appraisal on her own jewelry. She said that at her store, there is no charge for a verbal appraisal and also no charge for a written appraisal for jewelry from her store. She even said that she has heard some bad stories but that was by far the worst she's ever heard. So I will NOT be purchasing anything from Lorraines again! ...read more
