The Ellefson Companies

1.0

By JustinLe

This review is in regards to the owner, Thomas Ellefson. We had very positive interactions with the Property Manger and only had issues when the owner Tom was involved. In our situation my wife and I accepted positions out of the Madison area and needed to break our lease early. We worked with the property manager, whom helped us get the unit advertised. We took time out of our day to show the unit to prospective renters. The Property Manager informed us an individual completed the application process and was scheduled to sign a lease. At this point the owner Tom became involved and tried to persuade the man to buy the condo instead of renting. The man then decided to do neither, however we were never informed that a lease was not signed nor that we would still need to advertise the unit. We then moved out and completed all of the move out process as requested by the company. I followed up with the Property Manager, who informed us that the Owner still expected us to pay the rent for the coming month until a renter was found. This would not have been an issue had he not pressured the man to buy the condo. The property manager worked diligently and was able to get the unit rented in two days, however the owner still required we pay the prorated rent for those two days. When working with this property owner, document everything in writing because he is very unpredictable, unfair and will be contradictory to what the agents of his company say. ...read more

Home buyer credit possibly extended & may include current home owners.

Home buyers and sellers should be watching the news for the next week to see if they Home Buyer's credit will be extended. I've heard rumors of through June, but just recently read on CNBC to have it go through April 2010. There is also a clause on the extension to extend a smaller credit (I've read $6,500) to people who have owned their homes for the past 5 years. I guess well see what passes next week, so keep your eyes open in the news if you're thinking about moving.Check out the latest overview from CNBC on the details:http://www.cnbc.com/id/33533547Overall, an extension should really help with home sales through the winter around Dane County. Typically, we see a lower amount of home sales during the winter months.  Snow can be a restriction, and it's not exactly fun to move when it's zero degrees outside and icy roads. Even with that, $6,500+ in tax credit is quite attractive and would be hard to pass up if someone wanted to "trade up" their living quarters.Visitwww.A-Pro.net/madisonfor your home inspection needs. ...read more
