Tips To Remember When You Are Selling In The Real Estate Market

When you are planning to put property on the market, people seem to come from nowhere with their own ideas for how to sell your property. To get good quality advice about selling real estate, without any of the complex jargon of many real estate sites, read on. Adding energy efficient items can entice buyers. Upgrades like solar-powered features, energy-efficient appliances and other green touches are very appealing to prospective buyers because each one represents possible savings. The housing market can be volatile during different seasons. Using any fall decorum during that season can make your home appear more welcoming to buyers. Rake your leaves if you're selling your home in late autumn. To sell your house at it's maximum price, you may want to try to develop a bidding war. The Election and your Money

The election is quickly approaching and you may not know where you stand in regards to the issues. The one issue you should be concerned with is your money and how each candidate would like to pursue your money. Many members of the Democratic Party are discussing a Winfall Tax for individuals and for the Oil Industry. A Winfall tax would be a tax levied on any investment of yours that makes a profit. The Democrats make it sound like this is a tax that would be used against the wealthy but the truth is it may be used on any investment type. Do you own a home? Are you particpating in a retirement plan? Do you stand to inherit money from relatives? In the current language being tossed around regarding the Winfall Tax the government would recieve up to 45% of any profit you make from the sale of a home, inheritance or the profit made on your investments, which includes 401-k plans or other retirement plans. If you are already in retirement and you have been living on your investments the government may use a first in first out policy regarding the money in your plan which means the money you contributed was the first money you spent. The money still in your plan would be the profit you made from the investment which could mean that you may lose almost half of the remaining money if a winfall tax is implemented. Don't worry, you can always sell your dream home and down size to supplement that retirement plan, except the profit made from the sale of the house would also be subjected to this tax. Some politicians are saying that the winfall tax will be used for the big oil companies as they are making excessive profits and this should be taxed. There are two problems with this idea. 1. The oil companies have a 7% mark-up on thier product. This 7% mark-up does generate Billions of dollars of profit but that is because of the level of demand. The rest of the American businesses also mark up prices and in some areas of retail mark-up is 100% so is this considered excessive?  Johnson & Johnson make more on an ounce of Baby oil then Exxon makes on an ounce of oil so should we drop a winfall tax on Johnson & Johnson? If we give the government the power to tax one industry with a winfall tax are we not creating precedence for future taxes on the rest of the free market? 2. Do you think the oil companies will sit back and take paycuts in order to pay the tax or do you think the tax will be rolled into the price we pay as consumers? This basically becomes government induced inflation which will steal away the purchasing power of your dollar. Though the government will never refer to inflation as a tax there is no better defintion then to recognize inflation as a tax that is levied against everyone regardless of your income or tax bracket. When considering a candidate this fall look into how they want to tax Americans and how many new plans of distribution do they want to create. Remember, your money is in play with any new tax regardless of how they want to spin this.            ...read more
